Yes and no. If you go out for the purpose of picking up women, you will always give off a needy vibe. A vibe that says "I'm seeking something from others because I'm lacking." The thing is, women don't want guys who are lacking. They want guys who are the prize, who already have whatever they want.

Think of it this way. When companies are trying to hire talent, they rarely do so from getting resumes and applications. Why? Well, anyone who is busy working on their resume and applying for jobs is someone who NEEDS a new job. Why do they need a new job? They must be lacking something, they must be no good, who knows.

That's why companies actually spend money to hire recruiters and headhunters to poach people who work for their competitors or for other successful companies. Why spend extra money to get someone who is happily employed? Why pay them more to attracted them to your company? Why pay them a sign on bonus, instead of getting the guy who is already looking for a job on the cheap?

The answer is people NEVER want what they CAN get and ONLY want what they CAN'T get.

If you are a guy who goes out constantly hoping he will hook up with girls, makes you a guy who any girl can get. It's not attractive. They want the guy who is out there having fun, being charming and funny and who is discerning wjth whom he gives his interest to. They will try to "headhunt" that guy and see if they can entice him to come over to them. Why not just entertain the desperate guy who is buying her drinks and will go home with her at the drop of a hat?

Because women only want what they can't get.

So don't focus on trolling for pussy. Focus on having fun, being social, meeting new people and getting to know them. If a woman catches your eye, don't rush to try and hit on her. Get to know her to see what she's about. Is she charming, cool, sexy? Or she dumb as rocks. Remember, your penis and your sex are the prize women want (she is opening her legs to receive your seed). She won't do it for a loser. She does it for the prize.

Most bars and clubs are oversaturated. Most single woman there probably have a designated guy friend around to ward off hordes of desperate guys from shooting their shot throughout the night. Or, they’re in a massive group to try to intimidate guys from approaching. While if you go to the bar a lot I’m sure you could get lucky, it’s not really a good time investment unless you’re very tall and attractive and able to reasonably get attention in a shallow setting.

If you are an average guy, they usually pretend to show interest just so that they can get free drinks, and then they leave. That is my experience and other average men's experience anyway.
