Different anatomy + a lack of experience and/or communication + incompatible/selfish/inexperienced partner. I think it's largely the result of different anatomy - women just need more time to get an orgasm and PIV on its own isn't enough for a lot of them, and a lack of communication.

Up until I was in my late teens, I thought orgasms just came from PIV and if you couldn't, there was something wrong with you.

That's how it was spoken about in the media and by extention, how people my age spoke about sex.

I just wasnt aware what a clitoris was and what role it played in the female orgasm.

It took me a lot of masturbating to discover what my body enjoys. I also then had a partner who loved eating pussy and pretty much made me cum each time.

Since then I orgasms with every sexual encounter, with a few exceptions like being drunk, tired or a new encounter with a man who doesn't put in effort.

The #1 reason is just anatomy, penetrative sex automatically stimulates the penis but not the clitoris, which most women need to orgasm. There’s also a huge mental component. Women can definitely be horny, but for most of us, sex doesn’t take priority in our headspace like it does for most men. If something else is taking our mental energy, the ability to get into sex might just not be there, or may take a lot longer.

It's mental as much as physical for most women. If she isn't in the right headspace, it's just not gonna happen a lot of the time.

Biology is a big one. For some women, the orgasm requires more than just PIV. For others, it requires a minimum penis length to reach the right spot.

Education is quite poor as well. Women not knowing they can have orgasms, not knowing they should have them, not knowing how to ask for them, men not knowing how to ask how to give them, not knowing if women can, etc.

Not to mention men learning sex from porn. Every man I've known who tried to rub my clit was way too hard- he'd never want me that hard on his dick. Every woman I've known who tried-including the one ace girl I was with- always gave it the perfect gentle and firm touch. 3) the belief that men always know better than women. Even when given explicit instructions, women report that men insist on changing the rhythm, the pressure, and the speed for no apparent reason
