The amount of articles these days where women are complaining about the lack of ‘good men’. Women wanting an ambitious, highly educated and wealthy man but not finding one. Then you get the articles about middle age women lamenting never getting married and having children. No, women are absolutely not fine with the lack of ‘economically attractive’ men. They don’t realise that’s down to feminism reducing the number of men in higher education.

They aren't fine with being single. They are fine with using being single as a weapon against men they think are wrong in order to get them to do what they think is right. The issue is a bit concerning because this "dating recession" was already in motion even before Trump was elected. I would prefer to get married within the next year or two but the prospect of that happening is growing increasingly dim as I'm not willing to fold on my values just for the sake of getting married and having children with someone that doesn't even have any of the same values as me. Experts are already predicting population collapse within the century, and there doesn't seem to be an easy solution. While young men do need to do better in some aspects ultimately women will continue to turn their backs on more and more men as their standards continue to increase and then cry about being single in 10,20,30,40 years when no one even notices them.

easy to say for women when the line between single and partnered is just a single click or phone-call away, I swear they just don't know what the fuck is going on in a lot of men's lives, despite demanding we know everything and anything from theirs.

and man i always have hated that "well men should have friends" when they cant find relationships, not because being more social wont help with getting a partner, far from it, but because people, and mostly people who don't have to do the work to make a relationship happen (and yes, I mostly mean women and some very good looking men) just cant imagine how it must be being in a total drought when It comes to romantic options.

Men are admittedly not the gatekeepers of sex. However, we are the gatekeepers of relationships. Right from the outset of dating men are the ones who choose who we commit to, and who we don't. So if there's a "relationship recession", it's men who are deciding that – in most cases – the juice just isn't worth the squeeze any more.

Also, whenever it's the Guardian, make sure you archive their dross before sharing it. That site doesn't deserve the clicks.

To be clear. It's not about liking about being single yourself. I don't care how any individual woman feels about her own dating life. I'm single. I like being single. I don't plan on ever getting married.

It's the reaction the the idea of a "relationship recession" that's the problem here.

Maybe it's hypocritical for me to say but regardless of how you feel about your own dating life you SHOULD be concerned about the the idea that other people are not getting into relationships.

This means they will be having fewer children, which leads to a collapsing population, which means that when you are old there will be no tax base to support you.

And women live longer than men so this is more their problem than mine.

I think this article gets causality backwards and exaggerates recent events. We've witnessed a gradual decline in relationship formation over the past few decades. This didn't just happen. It's also unclear that the last few years saw a sudden increase in the rate of decline. A tipping point that is more obvious and visible may have been reached. Regarding causality it's possible that isolated males become more right wing, as opposed to right wings males ending up isolated. My guess is they are lashing out and picking further right candidates because they have nothing to lose. You can't break up with a girlfriend you don't have and you can't lose friends who don't exist.

Women have prioritized professionalism and careerism much more than at any time in the past, so they are delaying relationships or just totally forgoing them. This means more people than ever will either marry later in life or just not get married. How people react to these developments is a personal choice but I think for some men the answer is to move to the right, politically.

Meh…. It’s the Guardian. Pretty sure that they’re one of the media outlets we’ll discover has been partially funded by USAID and the rest of the deep state. They’ve already named the BBC as a recipient of deep-sate money.

And look at the “journalist” for Pete’s sake; she looks like the real-life Liz Lemon, and she sounds bitter AF. This is just more of the liberal media’s grift: cherry-picking data in order to fit the narrative that they want to be true.

But I really do find this whole thing fascinating. I keep hearing about this “loneliness epidemic” among men, but I haven’t seen a shred of evidence of it. Everywhere I look and everywhere I go, the single men are happy to be that way, and the married/attached men are usually somewhere on the spectrum of unhappiness; ranging from dissatisfied to miserable. Seriously, the gay male couples are the only “partnered up” men who are consistently happy.

On the other hand, the single women are pretty much all unhappy and/or lonely, and looking. The women who are “partnered up” are almost all unhappy as well.

I know that this is just anecdotal information, but I’ve spent my entire adult life working with mostly women - educated women - in various cities across the U.S., and this has been what I’ve consistently noticed for about 25 years; it’s nothing new. And the trends have become more prominent and noticeable in the last 10 years.

When I first got to my current job, the women I work with were almost constantly trying to set me up with one of their “girlfriends”, until they finally got the message that I wasn’t interested… in anyone. I’ve even had random women come up to me in a restaurant, etc. to ask me if I’m “available” because they “have a friend”.

Seriously, not even joking; and I’m no GigaChad, btw.

Meanwhile, the Internet and social media is saturated with women posting videos of themselves crying because they can’t find a relationship. I have not seen any such analog by men.

So…. I guess that we are left to conclude that all of the desperately lonely, single men and happy, fulfilled single women are hiding so well that they can only be detected by the surveys of learned and insightful liberal-arts professionals (many of whom are likely women like the author of the Guardian article)?

Or maybe, just maybe, this is another case of shills with an agenda telling us not to believe our lying eyes?

There is a relationship recession, but this author is speaking from the perspective of a woman who has had her relationship (married), had her children, is most likely menopausal or post-menopausal, and sees relationships as an option amongst other more interesting options.

Women who are anti-family or post-family, giving advice to young men and women, is a spent penny reminiscing the silk purse.
