New here. Is “Seduction” in this sub the same as PUA in the old days, or is it seduction as in social competence and reading vibes and energies?

This sub used to be a PUA sub back in the day but in recent years, it's been much more grounded and much less toxic in its advice given. Also way less sexist towards women than it used to be.

There is much more of a focus now on being socially competent and naturally playing off energy like you said, rather than the robotic gamesmanship you used to see in PUA communities. Also, the cringe PUA terminology you used to see ("kino" "HB9" "FR") is largely gone.

It's about dating for men. Moreso on the getting part, not as much on the keeping. Some PUA stuff, some online dating stuff, some general stuff, and a handful of losers complaining that it's not fair they don't get any. I'm sure your experience would be welcome

Most people don’t have alot of experience, so you get some of the “it’s all about your looks” posts. But this is mixed with others who know something about game and social dynamics. It’s a big melting pot of ideas, so you will have to sift through the nonsense.

The old community was much more hard core about game, going out and taking action. There were a lot more experienced people back then.

But, it’s always been like this. A mix of everything.

It depends what you want to seduce. Seduce means to charm, to win over, to gain favor with and can really apply to anything.

You can seduce her mind with intellect. You can seduce her heart with romance. You can seduce her vagina with "seduction" content that is discussed on here, although some people give and seek advice that should really be in the dating sub.

I'd say it's a generalized men's dating subreddit that's a smorgasboard of dudes looking for different things and different playbooks, for the most part.

Old traditional PUA was and is incredibly sociopathic. It was all about manipulating social interactions towards the desired outcome of sex. It was designed to cater to the average Joe, so he could manoeuvre his way around a lot of the competitive aspects of the dating market.

Sure there’s a lot of truth and value in the fundamentals of it all , but I’m glad the scene has moved away from this what is largely an artificial approach towards women. It really was seen and treated like a game/sport where winning was all that mattered.

From what I see modern PUA advice is largely leaning more and more towards inner game. Modern game encourages not only genuine social competence but competence in life in general. Overall , a more natural approach. It prioritises being attractive over the old school mentality of getting into panties by any means necessary. Modern pick up also takes into account the harsh reality of how competitive aspect of the dating market is. This is something a lot of older pick up artists would shy away from acknowledging. It takes a lot more work but is far more sincere and rewarding.

I am not good at approaching women. It is what it is, some people are naturals, some have to learn it the hard way.

What I recently realised changes the whole flirt ritual. I was always far to focused on the verbal communication. When I was thinking of smart sounding words the lady might have indicated twice that I better kiss her or she's out - or the opposite, that she is not interested in me at all.

After having missed the non verbal signals everything I talk about is futile, she already gave me an answer - I either missed a chance or overstayed my welcome.

So, watch her body language. You don't need to be told what to watch out for. If you watch, the signals are there - but it really took me some time 😉

Don't understand your question, the term PUA became popular because of mystery and Neil Strauss and all those guys, the manosphere is an umbrella term used to describe any resources made for men to help them form meaningful relationships with women. Unfortunately it gets a bad rep, a lot of people say that men should naturally know how to be good with women, but, just like myself, it's really changed and impacted me to improve my social skills as I was once hopeless with the opposite sex. The purpose of this subreddit is to help men bond with women, and build strong relationships with those around us, it's not about getting laid with as many women as possible and using "negs", or all these pua terms, it's quality not quantity.
