I(24M, cis-het) find dating apps to be very time consuming and don't like that my texting game needs to rule so much, that I "stand out" in the hundreds of guys a girl gets attention from on the apps.

In person, I am pretty chill and have no problem talking to anyone (especially when something like films is being discussed). But lately I haven't been going out that much, and all my friends are in other cities working or studying. I work as a freelancer so only when I get work is when I get to interact with new people.

Had a pretty heavy breakup a couple of years ago and now I do feel like I want to get back at it(with fear being present there ofcourse).

How should I go about this? Meeting and connecting with people again? It's fine with me even if things don't turn romantic at the get go- I don't impose my expectations of getting something romantic out of new relationships anyways.

I understand this is the age to really chase your dreams and go after your careers and take risks. And I do stand for that myself. But yes I feel like it'll be nice to have some new people in my life who are atleast somewhat consistent
