Similarly I like much of her content but she has a pattern of her feminism trumping both her leftist politics and autism advocacy. As she says, autism and sexism aren't incompatible, but she won't seem to see it in herself.

I think autism is an explanation, not an excuse. People often say “I’m autistic and I would never do that” but they don’t realise how autism is interlinked with so many things and can influence. For example, this is controversial, but many school shooters were autistic. Of cause the autism didn’t directly cause them to do it but it probably meant they felt isolated and were treated differently which can lead to frustration and violence. I think it is important to talk about how autistic men are treated and how we can prevent this rather than ignoring it

I’m not on either’s side? If the person is an abuser than they are an abuser regardless, but why propose it like I need to side with either or that men as a whole are using autism as an excuse? An excuse that most people don’t even buy or even allow.

As an Autistic person I never liked this content creator. She's late-diagnosed therefore she believes she's automatically an expert on autism which gave her grounds in her mind to start a channel talking about it.

Her channel pandors to LSN Autists, cutesy 'neurodivergent' girlies, that claim to be progressive but have a hate boner for Autistic men and would never date them if he didn't fulfill his role as a sufficient white knight. She has a hate boner for the puzzle piece as well (reminder, there are 75 million Autistic people and we all DON'T share the same views).

Now, I haven't watched the video but I won't be surprised if it's one of those "I don't care if he is Autistic, he's an incel" type of videos because sex shaming men is what's hot nowadays.

I did not watch the whole video, and I did not read into the Neil Gaiman case.

Empirically speaking, autistic people end up being bullied at lot, and that also happens in the leftist scene. While the mainstream justifies this with autistic men being "weird", feminists usually claim that "they make them uncomfortable", or are "crossing boundaries". Which is mostly politically correct lingo for being weird.

It's disgusting for anyone to claim that being autistic excuses their abusive behavior, but I don't see a problem in anyone going over the allegations against Gaiman because he has confirmed some details and, as she goes into in the video, claimed that his autism is why he did those things.

Some problems I see is the framing that there are few or no prominent women who try excusing their abusive behavior with their autism and questionable statistics on abuse of autistic people based on gender. The former is a problem because she's done videos about multiple autistic women who have been abusive and weaponized their autism to deal with criticism, and the latter is clearly questionable when even autistic men are silenced for their experiences, either by others or themselves because they have learned that's "what's expected of men".

But I don't see a problem overall calling out celebrities like Gaiman who try weaponizing their autism, but in this case, his single statement relating his autism to the abuse allegations is not at all comparable to others like Kanye 'Ye' West or Sia, and this video comes off as being done more for money than to actually add to the conversation.

As a person on the spectrum myself, I think we honestly do need to call someone out when they use autism as an excuse because autism is never a reasonable excuse for the behavior of malicious people. However, we should also be considerate of the impact autism has on people's perceptions and behavior without outright demonizing autistic men (or people with the condition in general).

Without watching the video, I think men with autism deserve a certain degree of grace when it comes to misreading signals, but not when it comes to pushing against understandable boundaries.

I think we’re at a point where failing to interpret a woman’s unspoken disinterest is construed as harassment. Some of the advice/criticism given to incels is that they need to put themselves out there. I feel like I receive signals of disinterest from most women I speak to. Idk if that is a trauma response, my ND-ness sounding unnecessary alarms, or actual disinterest.

With the way things are right now, I’d rather favor the cautious approach. Because it’s safe. Because the benefit of so-and-so’s friendship (or whatever else) isn’t worth the punishment you can receive for being wrong. Because if a woman has to tell you your attention is unwanted, chances are pretty good it’s too late and you’re already in trouble.

Polite yet direct communication, it seems, is a lost art. We shouldn’t be jumping from body language and subtle cues to humiliating someone and gossiping about them. There’s a middle ground here that is worth exploring, and ND men in particular are casualties of this. I don’t think people recognize how arbitrary some women’s threshold for creepy behavior is, and nobody wants to be that guy.

It's just more scapegoating autistic people instead of admitting any human can do harmful actions. (it's proven autistic people are less likely to hurt someone or sa them, but autistic people are more likely to be blamed or accused, often by people who actually do assault others or out of personal hatred or envy of the autistic person.)

Videos like this is why I have to avoid the public who want to follow me around and accuse me of things. I'm an open target because of these types of videos. People don't gaf about rich pdfs, they just want to torment me as an easy scapegoat and then act surprised I have nothing good to say or do for women or for men except avoid them and tell them to go away when they try to interact with me. (For some reason they feel entitled to interact with me and torment me and vilify me even if it doesn't always start off that way.)

Yeah, there's a Thing in a lot of the 'neurodivergent' spaces that it's lower support needs later-dx women hogging the conversation rn. I think this is inevitable as we have the surge of autism awareness for women, as it is true that they were ignored for a while by doctors/psych.s/society, and I think that this progress is good for them. But there will always be an uncomfortable tension between the facts that a) social aptitude and emotional intelligence is a significant element in what turns women on and what society respects in adult men b) and makes them and society feel safe and c) political correctness around marginalised groups such as low functioning/high support needs autistic men, that is to say the stability of applied intersectionality. This goes off topic but the vast majority of people who are contributing to 'discourse' cannot relate to higher support needs people; as nasty as it is to say, it's a genuine hard problem of consciousness issue. So gynocentrism vs. ableism makes for 'fun' discourse, sometimes it's better to play dumb even if you have skin in the game.
