I never thought I would be thinking anything of the sort, yet alpne posting about this. I am a die hard (old school now) liberal, only voted for a GOP once( state controller as the dem owed 6 million in back taxes) but technically been "independent" for nearly 2 decades. Its hard to find decent ppl here in north CA to get behind politically that arent Dems.

But Jesus, as an atheist, this whole Charlie Kirk thing is destroying everything I thought I knew about my family/friends and myself. Majority of my family are teachers, we are talking about about to have a 4th generation of them. The fact that I feel so alone defending a guy I don't agree with not only put my principle of political assassinations always being condemned no matter what to challenge. But to apparently finding out is "justified" by so many ppl I love, cherrish and have an enormous respect for is literally breaking me.

I will admit, I am a frwe speech absolutionist and have always admired that about Kirk. But that'd as far as our "agreement" goes generally. I have parents arguing that he "believed in the 2nd amendment therefor...). I reminded them of the 4 members of our family who love to hunt and make there own food and believe in it, saying that by there beliefs it would be OK to murder them since " they r pro 2A".

The rest to delve into nonsense of basically "he deserves it since he doesn't agree eith me" and I can't let go of figuring out that all these teachers who always seem "above politics" in person, clearly are the problem and understanding the damage they've done to there students. I'm at a lost what to do. So much of me wants to SS there comments and send it to there school, but other part of me hopes I can talk some sense. Not even sure if ur that callous that's even possible
