It was just an exhibition match, played in a fun spirit by both players, for some nice cheque. Novak Djokovic and Li Na also played one in 2013 in Beijing, with Li Na given a 30-0 lead at the start of every game, which she ended up winning.

On social media though, I know how some feminist pages were going on hyping up the match as modern day BJK vs BR, but I think it would be better to leave them alone cause Sabalenka and Kyrgios themselves are pretty chill about the match.

The court size difference is not something sabalenka asked for. Dubai made the rules. They did that because everyone knows men’s tennis is a different level entirely.

The dude won easily but this was an exhibition match between friends. Both players are cool with each other. Both players had fun on court and were laughing and joking.

They also both made a lot of money.

This is not a serious topic.

I really do not understand such decisions at events. Actions like that piss off both sides: - Feminists will be angry since such blatant advantage will nullify victory in case of female played winning. - MRA's will be angry at yet another example of discrimination.

I guess it is supposed to make match more engaging so there is real chance for female played to win? But again the stakes got completely destroyed beforehand by making game not fair so the tension went out of the window anyway.

Especially since there was already more intuitive and "fairer" way to make match even; just take even worse male player. Especially since it was already match between top female tennis player vs medium-pro-grade male player.

If anything, this match shows the ludicrousness of making direct gender comparisons on things. Women's tennis is a beautiful sport and people enjoy watching it. The same ofc applies for Men's tennis.

Trying to prove that women are equal to men or that men are worse than women (two major tropes of the new universe), results into these ridiculous outcomes. Differences of the genders should be celebrated. I am sure that the female tennis player has as much souls as the male and that is all that should matter.

Somehow however we have a "battle of the sexes", which results in this absurdity, because the premise is absurd to begin with. More of these type of events should be made public, so that people finally realise that men and women are somewhat different and that is OK.
