Living an average life is absolutely fucking amazing. When people ask me how am I, I often reply "well, I'm alive", and laugh. I think most people think of this as being a bad thing, but actually, we should be more grateful for it.

There's human rights violations every day in other countries, so if I stayed up until 3AM because I chose to go into further education and to leave my lab report until the last minute, I'm actually fucking lucky just to get that choice.

As Ewan McGregor said, choose life.

It's not texting. It's validation. Texting is an efficient way of doing this, but if you took it away from them they'd find another way to get similar amounts of validation without having people text them all the time.

This culture has exploded in prominence since the mass adoption of apps like instagram, vine, snapchat, twitter, etc. The extent to which smartphone addicts receive a continuous and extremely accessible source of validation is a relatively new (~5 years) thing. Of course, there's been pedestalization since the beginning of time, but facebook had a big impact on the effort:praise (or hotness:texting) ratio in the early 2000s. With the new wave of social apps that are easier than ever to have on you 24/7, the effort value becomes an asymptote approaching zero, but the validation value increases.

What happens when all these people who are getting constant attention at their fingertips for just being attractive start to lose their looks? What happens when the first generation of 18 year olds with smartphones hit their 30s? Won't they experience a ton of psychological problems since the new cohort of 18-25 year olds is presumably getting the most attention? Will it be any different than the girl in the video, tragic as her circumstance may be?

I don't think it will be as cataclysmic as you're implying. Their validation streams won't dry up all at once but slowly diminish alongside their looks, and probably won't ever go away completely. They have a generation of beta orbiters that's going to grow old and continue stagnating in value right along side them.

I've dated a few girls with mothers who were 35 yr old+ single mom 5/10 biker trash super-sluts and those women STILL seemed to have no shortage of losers pursuing them. It seems like as long as they maintain a social life women only ever have to accept a decline in the quality of men to choose from, not quantity.

The problem with this idea of enjoying it when we see women getting treated like a man is that they lack the fundamental faculties to deal with being treated like a man. I know you're not doing that, I'm just speaking on a trend I'm seeing here.

Men have it harder, but we also have a greater potential for discipline, ambition, rage, independence, monkmode, self-improvement through hard ass work, etc. We have a path to salvation. You could be a midget, butt ugly dude and you can still develop social proof, money, a fulfilling life, and some chick will buy into your world.

We have the equipment we need to make it all happen. It might be hard, it might make us miserable, but virtually all guys have the ingredients to make it happen. The testosterone plays a massive role in helping us manage our emotions and recover from shit like this. When girls breakdown when they are treated like a man, like say that white girl in Japan who freaked out because she's a non-entity in the dating market... we have to remember that this is just biology working as intended. She was not equipped with what she needed to deal with the male world, so when she was thrust into the male position without our advantages, of course she crashed and burned.

Not sure that this related to OP, but TRP expects women to act like women to be treated like women. Women who act like men? Well we laugh at them when they get treated like men and are for some reason surprised. It's terrible what happened to this girl, but if her idea of femininity is solely wrapped in her outer appearence and victim hood status, she's going to have a bad time. If she only learns how to cook and clean, and have a caring personality not addicted to outside attention, there's no reason she would be locked out of finding a decent boyfriend. That may sound sexist to some, but it's a huge female privilege not available to men.

This exactly. Im a survivor of SJS/TENs. Look it up. It's ruined about 75% of my skin. I used to have low self esteem pre-illness because of one reason or another and I never knew how good I had it. Now I have a legitimate reason to be pissed off and depressed due to a shit ton of scarring, but through TRP and understanding what it means to be male, I've gotten passed it and am truly glad to be male.

The first girl I tried to date after I got sick had me in the scarcity mentality really bad. Probably the way the girl in this video will be if a guy shows interest in her. I thought no other girl could like me so I have to lock her down, and I sabatoged any chances of getting anywhere with her. Now I understand that my SMV is low but I still have the opportunity to build it. Maybe not as high as it could have been before, but at least more so than a girl could in my situation. Also, women will have ZERO empathy for whatever you go through as a guy. No matter how bad, UNLESS you're still good looking in the end.

Now I've set long term goals and have a great mindset to achieve them more so than before I got sick.

There is a level of pleasure watching when a women lacks the foresight to pair down before the wall. Men already understand failure is failure, no matter what the cause. No, MGTOW isn't about giving up because you suck and are unwilling to put in the work required, and that is what being a cat lady is about. Giving up and taking care of cats. Some losers try to claim they are going their own way, but aren't because they aren't improving their lives, they are staying the same and not trying.

MGTOW is about finding women to be so lackluster that you'd rather not share your hard earned resources and time with them. You spend your time doing what you want because you work hard to have the capability and resources to do it, and you can enjoy life without paying some bitchs way through hers. The key is making your own life one that is worth living, not trying to impress anyone but yourself, and having a high standard with goals to reach.

This is so, but the reason that men of our generation enjoy it is that is that these men have been raised to lack the fundamental faculties to deal with being treated like a man, and are expected, in fact demanded to behave in ways that are incompatible with dealing with being treated like a man.

That's why TRP exists now and not before. Because before, men had a path before them. Yes, the journey is both hard and rewarding, but men of previous generations had a map. This generation is socialized against walking.

And this doesn't just happen for adult men, who can presumably have agency and can do what they need to anyway, but for little boys, who are too young to defend themselves, and who then grow into young men who can't.

Being expected to create your own value instead of just having it, is a natural burden of men, would they should and can carry. Being given no guidance on how to do so, or even a hint that they must, isn't.

In order to survive being treated like a man, one must act like a man. Men deprived in their boyhood of guidance in how to do this are every bit as fucked as this girl.

And this is why they have no sympathy.

She did this to herself.

I don't feel sorry for her at all, and in fact think the opposite: I'm angry that her stupidity could have harmed or taken the life of someone else that day. This is impaired driving. No different from drunk driving, and no one feels sorry for them, for good reason.

You can understand that someone is at fault for their circumstances and still feel some compassion for them. What, you've never made a mistake? I know that drug addicts, for example, have only themselves to blame, but I still feel sorry for the skeletal methhead with bloodshot eyes and scabs all over his body. In the same way, I know that this girl brought all of this upon herself. I also know that she endangered other drivers by texting and driving, something that she should be punished for. I still feel sorry for her, though, because I don't think that what she did warrants a lifelong disfigurement.

Imagine this story: Child killed by drunk driver. If the driver was horribly disfigured by this, would you feel sorry for him, or would you be angry at him for being selfish and stupid? If someone makes decision, knowing that it's a bad one, then they should pay the price for their actions.

Equally, a friend was in a car accident because the driver was drunk (he hit a tree). She has a brain injury, and looks like a stroke victim because someone else made a bad decision. I feel sorry for her, but I try to avoid showing her sympathy, because that's the last thing that they want. If you had an accident, would you want everyone saying "oh, that's terrible, so unfortunate, you were so lucky to be alive", or would you prefer that they treat you like an adult?

Do you not agree that one can feel both ways? Of course I would be angry at him for making such an idiotic and costly decision. I would also feel much more sympathy for the child and the family. I would probably feel that he deserved what he got as repayment for what he took from them. At the same time, I would feel a bit sorry for him. And while I have had to rein in their more sentimental impulses, I appreciate that they care about me and that their concern, while misguided and annoying, comes from a good place. It is not only possible to offer compassion without treating someone like a child; it is what makes the best healers, caregivers, counselors, and friends.

There are some things I can excuse, such as a teenager making poor decisions when it comes to long-term financial planning, investments, or something similar that requires a mix of real-world experience and knowledge gained from college or even self-teaching over many years.

But that's clearly not the case. This is an example of someone's stupidity biting them in the ass. If she had gotten unlucky and someone else had crashed into her, or she'd been run over by a drunk driver, or gotten a horrible illness, that would not be her fault, and she would have my sympathy, but she made a decision.

In her words, she saw the warning about texting and driving, but chose to ignore them. What happened is her fault, and she deserves the consequences.

It's worth adding that this isn't because of her gender. It's not because she was pretty and now isn't. It's because she was stupid, and now learnt her lesson. She was lucky to have learnt that lesson, rather than dying.

Very sad story - most teenagers (including myself at that age) don't realize how dangerous cars are. Even now I prefer to live in a city with public transport because one small distraction while driving can end up killing me and/or others.

It's a bit karmic that her need to be constantly connected to her "friends" via her phone resulted in the accident which disfigured her and drove all her "friends" away. At least she seems to have gained a healthy perspective from all this.

Hopefully stories like these will at least serve as a lesson to others and encourage women (and men) to dispense with the validation IV drip that is social media.

There were a couple of videos about her on YouTube. In one video the mother said "I didn't know she was so close with her phone" or something similar and in another video the girl said she used her phone every second or something similar.

The two stories don't add up.

This sucks that this happened to her.

However, you also have to run this through the filter of "Teenage The World Is Ending For Every Lil Thing"-ism.

You remember how it was to be a teenager.

In all honesty it's horrible what happen to her but she isn't a repulsive looking person. She just has to suck it up, get back on her feet, still dress pretty, do her makeup, etc. And screw the social media shit.
