If you only have the capacity to perform a certain number of times a day, wouldn't it be a bit awful to be under financial pressure to offer up those limited occasions to activity that maybe isn't very close to what you prefer? I mean I'm not a great consumer of porn so maybe I've got the wrong idea, but most of it that I've seen doesn't pass the "these people are really into this" test. Being able to keep that dick visibly hard, have an orgasm without needing a cut in the action, and frequently hide the fact you aren't maybe as in to this as you're supposed to be are what is required from a male porn star. That's a very specific sort of SMV and leaves out a bunch of stuff that is more usually included in SMV, such as social skills.

I think actually working as a porn star may take the fun away from sex.

Classic porn sex is quite a bit less fun that sex normally is.

Even independent porn, cam shows, etc, still have that performance factor... Which really interferes with having fun.

Probably not. I imagine the best job a man could have would involve a tangible sense of accomplishment; using his skills to make, build, hoist, steer, cobble, execute, etc., and being handsomely rewarded for that thing they made/did.

Past the novelty of sex with assorted women (who may or may not be attracted to you and vice versa), there is the immediate realism of porn (sets, lighting, reshoots, "acting") plus the low pay (compared to women) and demoralizing lifestyle.

Outside the purview of The Thirsty, sex as a career doesn't seem to ping the Self-actualization slot of Maslow's pyramid, at least not to the extent that building X from scratch (and utilizing an array of talents) for fun and profit would.
