OK, I'll talk about dicks again. I think dicks for girls might be like boobs for men. Also, there's two answers to this. #1 involves doing that thing where you imagine a hypothetical 'perfect' partner and list their traits. We've all done that. Now, think of your hypothetical perfect man/woman and then compare them to who you've really, really fancied irl. Most of my bfs have not really resembled hypothetical perfect guy. They've had some traits, but not all. One had all the physical ones and none of the non-physical.

Irl is different to the hypothetical discussions. We don't get to pick our real life partners by trait and then order them at the boyfriend drive-thru.

Does dick size matter? Yes and no. Mostly no, unless it's super outside the norm. A big dick is nice. And for me I think it might be more psychological than physical (although it IS physical too). A big dick is just masculine, there's no getting around that. BUT - and this is the part that really matters, imo - when I am into a dude, I mean starry-eyed, omg he's soooo great etc. (we need to talk about this 'starry-eyed' state here at PPD btw) into a dude then his dick is the best dick in the whole world. His 5 incher is better than Chad's 8 incher to the extent that Chad's 8 incher isn't even a temptation. His dick is the fuckin boss of me.

Also, unlike boobs, you can't see dicks right away. So that's a bit of an advantage, maybe, because a girl can still go all gaga over your first, without knowing if you're packing or not.

I'm betting most women will say they are fine with what their partner has as long as they feel pleasure during intercourse. The only dudes who are in real trouble are extreme outliers on the small side. The vast majority of penises are between 4.25 and 6.25".

Penis size matters but not for most men.

I think women's ideal is somewhere between 5-7 and a half inches. Anything within an inch to a half inch above or below is not that big of a worry. Anything not within those figures though will become very important for those men. Its the same with height. Most men fit within the definitions of acceptable height but for the outliers it is quite a hard preference to overcome and can be debilitating in the dating world.

Its simply not true which is why its weird how this conception of big dick has become so commodified and constant in most men's eyes. Perhaps many women might absorb this understanding from porn and media too but probably abandon it after first encountering an 8in+ dick unless they are size queens or like anal. It just doesn't fit all the way in the majority if women's vaginas without being extremely painful and probably quite boring for the guy who has to constantly mind how deep his dick is.

I have never interacted with a dick that was too small. Girth is more important than length anyway. I have literally never asked a guy about his dick during the get to know each other stage, and if I'm willing to get naked with someone that is, for me, a decision to be into whatever he's got.

The only dick complaint I've had was with a dude who had issues staying hard. The size was fine, but he'd go soft and it would pop out and that isn't fun for anyone. He had anxiety issues and it didn't work out for other reasons.

I've been with one officially "big" guy and while it was nice, his size caused the condom to break and I had to take Plan B. Lame. It wasn't so mind blowingly different that all I want is big dick now, it didn't "ruin" me for other partners. Guys who worry about that stuff are internalizing their own insecurities, as someone else already said if I'm into a guy I'm gonna be into his dick. It's a package deal, no pun intended.

I don't know if women just say this to make me feel good, but I've been told I am "the perfect size" by more than a handful. Say a quarter of all the women I've slept with. I'm just shy of 6 unless I cheat and measure from underneath then I'm 6 or just over...

Either way I don't feel very big. I'm happy with what I've got although I can't stay super hard the whole time so sometimes I wish I had the energy to keep at full length the whole time lol.

But really what gets me a higher score when I'm with a chick is my hands. I like to think I have a very intuitive sense of where to touch and how. Lots of slight-of-hand motions mixed with grabbing and squeezing. If you're lacking downstairs, learn how to do that. I've been told I have electric hands lol. Plus after a girl experiences it, and I want to instigate sex, I just start to rub her neck or her back...

You can learn to fuck better but not to have a bigger dick. A decent size dick gives better orgasms, somewhere along that line is the "above average" beyond which it becomes unpractical, and it's quite low personally because I'm small down there. Errhm, well, I guess I have some "credentials" to talk about this. I'm from BDP and I probably have one that can be classified as "big".

I'll say this straight up: women prefer bigger dicks on average. It's what I've been told. It is nice having one a bit larger, and I consider it a blessing (I may not be blessed in other areas but I do have this) :)

It's like height. Women tend to prefer men who are taller than average, but not too tall.

But...there is a big but....

Penis size is a bell curve. The vast majority of men are going to fall between 5 and 6 inches, nothing more and nothing less. I suspect its probably the same for vaginas - there is a bell curve.

The problem with size, is that everyone's perception is different due to the media they consume, their past experiences, and their physical size, including the size of their own equipment.

Some girls who have seen it said I was "big", some "nice" and others just shrugged and didnt even notice at all. Despite my size being in the 90%+ percentile.

Some women care about size, some women obsesses over it, some women don't care at all.

What is interesting is this: there have been studies done that show that first of all women have no clue on measuring penises, and tend to overestimate size when talking about it and remembering it. The other big discovery is that with past partners, if the emotional bond was strong, women thought their ex's penis was larger than average. If it was a weak bond, it would be smaller on average.

What this means is pretty clear: its more about the size of the emotional connection and chemistry rather than the size itself.

Is the popular notion "bigger is better" shallow and inexorable or otherwise?

Not at all. People have their own preferences. I am not gonna judge a girl if she thinks I am not packing enough, or even the other way around (which can happen).

As a straight man, I've noticed in women a clear divide between 'dick likers' and 'dick just ok'-ers.

What I mean is, there are some women who really like dick, like looking at it, like fondling it etc. And there are some women who enjoy penetration, but see dick as a more utilitarian thing - it does the job but it's not something to frame photos of.

I've gathered this mostly from my own experience but from conversations with female friends I've noted a similar wide gulf on opinion.

I suspect that most women prefer a girthy penis, but length is a primarily visual thing that not all women care about, appealing mainly to the dick likers.

Not too big, not too small.

I did have two partners who were rather small, and I probably wouldn't even pay that much attention to this fact, unless they were whining about it. They did seem to be unsecure, had low confidence etc. And this is what sucked, and was the reason we ultimately broke up (one of them was literally telling me he got too intimidated by me and couldn't even get it up. Geez).

Also, I did have a boyfriend with a really huge one. And sex felt awful, because, well, basically it hurt. I hoped I would get used to the size after a while or something, but I guess it doesn't work like that. Instead, one day I realised that I'm no longer turned on by my boyfriend, no matter what he did. Even worse than that, I didn't like him anymore. Even slightest bit. And yes, I dumped him.

So, that's the story. You can write your own moral to it.

If I could choose, I would definitely pick a guy with an average penis, BUT at the same time, a considerate, gentle, open-minded and imaginative lover. That's what makes sex really great.
