sounds like you and your friend are both unfamiliar with north american burlesque culture, because it's intrinsically linked with alternative subcultures, specifically rockabilly. If you want to be titillated, go to a strip club. burlesque is closer to drag than it is to more mainstream stripping... it's kind of a politicized, tongue-in-cheek mockery of what's conventionally considered sexy.

I don't know anything about burlesque... but I do know that where I am, women are almost always more attractive than their male partners.

Furthermore, men in America are more likely to be tattooed and overweight than women. So I'm assuming they don't mind bigger/tattooed ladies since they are bigger/tattooed themselves.

Also, does the US have a higher population of gays than the rest of the world? I've never heard that.

Burlesque is the type of thing that would involve quirky type women- i.e. the overweight tattooed green hair gender-queer types with nose-rings. Not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's what you're into.

If you want women who are more attractive to the avg. hetero guy, go to a regular strip club.

And ugly women aren't going to turn a man gay. Most straight guys would just beat their meat to women in porn, on facebook, instagram, or whatever.

Excess body fat is universally unattractive in both men and women.

What I can't fathom is how people can lack the self-awareness to understand that a deal-breaking physical characteristic in a potential partner is remotely acceptable to possess, yourself.

I don't find fat women (unless they're obese) to be repulsive, but just sexually invisible. If overweight women don't even register as a sexual entity to me, then I'm going to be damn sure to keep my own body in decent shape.

Well, I don't think it can make a straight man gay, but I do think that it make a straight man give up on the relationship. I live in a major canadian city, and man, let me tell you, every time I travel I see the difference between women here and women in other parts of the world. Women in most parts of other countries are often very pretty. There are gorgeous women here too, but to a lesser extent. I would say that 1 out of every 10 women I see in canada is over a 7. But women in Europe, hell, even the middle east (I've been there a few times), well, I'd say it's closer to 5/10.

I recently went to Dubai, and holy shit. Like seriously, the ugliest women I saw there was like that one rare woman you see downtown Toronto that makes your jaw drop. Germany and Belgium, just wow. Australia, again, so many beautiful women. I don't know what it is about canada, maybe because of the mixed culture? Maybe because of the extreme feminist values that our legal system and our media has take, but women here just aren't pretty.

So yeah, I mean, I guess it could encourage a guy to "experiment" and he could realise that he enjoys being with men.
