I have to admit, I wouldn't know. Different people value me for different things. My friends find me funny, but open and serious enough to talk about certain subjects. My girlfriend thinks I'm a big goofy softy.

I'd like to believe that there's some secret consensus that I'm super cool and strong, but most evidence points to the contrary.

[–]bornreddMarried Red Pill Man2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Honestly I have no idea.

I feel like I just smile real goofy at people and they like me? My hobbies aren't anything super interesting. I talk too much about my children. I talk too much in general. I laugh too often at everything, but especially my own jokes. I never talk about my work, because most people find it boring (very dry very niche technical field). I enjoy my work, but I'd hardly call myself "passionate" about it.

I suppose things I am passionate about are:

  • Family
  • History
  • Games that make you think (cards, chess, etc)
  • Human social interactions (hi TRP!)
  • Dancing
  • Drinking
  • Marijuana
  • Grilling
  • Driving really fast
  • Shooting guns
  • Boxing/fighting
  • Fireworks
  • Style (this is a new one in the last few years)
  • My beard (is my baby)
  • Weightlifting
  • Diet (due to medical problems)
  • Cooking in general
  • Religions (study them, not an adherent to any)
  • World events/ politics (but I don't discuss unless someone expresses a desire)
  • Science fiction (books)
  • Tabletop RPGs (2nd ed D&D for life, I'm a grognard)
  • Programming
  • Databases
  • Business strategy
  • Philosophy (mostly political - anarchism, libertarianism, etc)
  • Music (rock, metal, punk, techno, trance, fucking accordians)

There's more, but those are the major things I do/study/read/love.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You know, I hardly ever get those 'I could drink beer with this guy' vibes from RPers but I do with you. You sound fun and easy to be around and this place makes me think that's rarer than it is. (INB4 'look at this solippibibbibistic bitch thinkin' deigning to have beer with a dude is some big compliment').

[–]bornreddMarried Red Pill Man1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Hah! Thanks.

I'm just a family man with no plan, plugging my way through this weird wild world and trying to make sense of it all while having a good time.

If you're ever on your way to Texas, PM me and we'll arrange a beer if you end up in my neck of the woods.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Will do. I know someone in Texas who needs a good waterboarding so it might be soon.

[–]modulok1K CLUB0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just moved to TX - the craft beer scene down here is solid.

[–]SmurfESmurferson1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My beard (is my baby)

That made me chuckle.

[–]i_have_a_semicolonPurple Pill Woman1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like that list.

[–]modulok1K CLUB0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Boxing/fighting

Fighting? Like, MMA, or barfights?

[–]bornreddMarried Red Pill Man0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Like boxing - I like watching it, and I like doing it. I'm a welterweight/middleweight fighter.

[–]rayyaalman1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What makes me interesting in my opinion: humor, creativity, and open mindedness. In other peoples' opinions: humor, creativity, and focus/discipline.

What I am passionate about: design field (my career), guitar (my hobby), weight lifting (my activity), and video games (my pastime).

[–]Red-Frostraven1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

Passionate about:

  • Reality and society: Politics, sociology, physics, astronomy, geology

  • Theoretical physics and philosophy: Theory of Everything, existence, will and conscience, ethics..

  • Psychology and artificial intelligence: Behavior, trauma, emotions, split brain patients and the effect components of the brain has on the individual, making artificial intelligence with complex decision-making based on the entity's actual observations

  • Aesthetics and beauty: What makes something beautiful? What makes people attractive? Why do we feel attracted to beauty, and how exactly is beauty decided and actually processed within the mind?

  • Music: How it sparks emotions, and changes your mood, and just listening and listening to music... dancing... Dancing even while working, trying to be one with rythm, in the flow...

  • Sexuality: What can I do to make my partner feel the best she possibly could? What can I do to make my partner come the fastest possible? How can I make my partner feel great for the longest period of time without losing the ability to come? What can I do to be the most sexually attractive to my partner, to enhance her experience? What are the best toys that exist for different types of girls?

  • First person shooters based on reality: Counter-Strike: GO, ARMA III, Modern Warfare 1, Battlefield

  • High fantasy games with magic: Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Baldur's Gate, Diablo II

  • TV-series: Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead

  • Raising kids: Parenting, pedagogy, remembering how to not be a boring adult

  • Working out

  • Making food

  • Card and Board games

  • (Writing stories no human should ever read.)

But I hardly talk to anyone, ever, so...

I guess people don't really consider my passions interesting,

or just find me to be boring.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You kind of sound like you're trying to hard tbh.

[–]Red-Frostraven0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Disagree...

I don't understand why more people aren't far more interested and invested in the questions:

Why are we even HERE, what are WE, and what the hell is this place -- beyond known physics and astronomy?

What makes me interesting: Who knows. I'm kind of a strange guy I guess.

Passions: The creation of a white Ethnostate on the North American continent.

[–]buarthaDelights in homosexuality1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

There's nothing particularly interesting about me. My work is boring to everyone outside my field, and the only things I'm passionate about other than that are my relationship and animal rights (I volunteer at an animal shelter on weekends to get my animal fix.) Not being an interesting person has never posed much of a problem in my day to day life, most people aren't very exciting so I fit in well.

Though I do make a mean vegan chocolate cake (that I totally didn't steal from Nigella Lawson...)

[–]SetConsumesAlways Becoming1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What's your work?

Animal rights and a vegan? At least that's one thing most women love to talk about.

[–]buarthaDelights in homosexuality3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I work in R&D, which sounds interesting in theory but largely involves a lot of QA and data analysis (which I enjoy, but nobody wants to hear about, not to mention that I'd probably be cautioned/fired/assassinated for blabbing about stuff we develop so I try to keep schtum about it mostly.)

[–]DrunkGirl69Manic Pixie Drunk Girl1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"Most women" aren't vegans

[–]SetConsumesAlways Becoming1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sure, but they can talk about animal rights and vegetables for days, generally speaking. Some women don't do vegetables and eat like children.

[–]DrunkGirl69Manic Pixie Drunk Girl1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most women fall somewhere between being able to talk about vegetable rights for days and eating like children.

[–]fiat_lux_Red Pillar1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do you think being the more stereotypically femme side of a gay relationship has eased any social or personal expectations of you to be more "interesting"?

[–]buarthaDelights in homosexuality0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not really, most of the straight guys I know who do well with women aren't interesting either. They might be fun to be around and charming/ charismatic, but largely not 'interesting' (as in, have strong interests/ passions/ hobbies that people find intriguing.)

I do think that when people say 'interesting' in romantic terms what they mean is 'fun to be with and talk to' rather than actually interesting though, and I think that's probably as important in a gay relationship as a straight one (though probably less important in the gay hook up scene.)

Calling my buddy /u/GroovyEFS to this thread!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Aww. I wouldn't exactly call myself interesting though to be honest with you. I like computers and drugs and wasting way too much time on Reddit. Not much else to say.

I tend to stand out to people IRL because I have quite an... eccentric personality, and generally people either love or hate it. But I'm not sure exactly how to quantify that, it's just how I am.

[–]LittleknownfactsVaguely Uncivil Comment0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh no! Drugs make me super uncomfortable! I like Adderall, but my alignment is lawful neutral so if it doesn't come with a prescription I can't handle it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I gotta teach you how to live! I'm basically chaotic neutral with just a little chaotic evil on the side.

[–]modulok1K CLUB0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think a question that would be more effective for the discourse of this subreddit would be "Why does being passionate make you interesting?"

I think in most cases (not all), if you're passionate about something, it will spark interest in the opposite sex.

[–]SetConsumesAlways Becoming0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love a good intellectual conversation about almost anything.

My biggest passions revolve around studying and understanding the mind and human nature, so philosophy, psychology, sociology, anthropology, religion.

I'm love technology in general, especially robotics, computer systems, AI. But other fields like cars, aviation, astronomy, quantum physics.

I love business and economics, marketing and sales, product development.

Probably what makes me interesting more than anything else is my ability to ask questions, see things from a different perspective, and make you think.

[–]CovenantoftheSunhealth is attractive0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I am passionate about how humans tick. I am interesting because I am a good listener and people like to talk. People are interested in that.

I am interesting because I am in good physical shape and I am passionate about the health and fitness of my body and diet.

I am interesting because people naturally feel recognized and honoured in my presence IRL for who they are and their natural abilities even if they haven't developed the skill for it.

I am interesting because I know how to dream big dreams and achieve big dreams. I am interesting because I am an idealist who at once knows they cannot be reached and paradoxically reach for them anyways because they are worth reaching for more than reality is.

I am interesting because I love to kick back, laugh, and get excited about unimportant things when I am playing and having fun.

I am interesting because I am devilishly handsome.

[–]nomdplumeFormer Alpha1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow, I was not expecting this sort of articulate response here.

This is an awesome acknowledgement of yourself:

I am interesting because people naturally feel recognized and honoured in my presence IRL for who they are and their natural abilities even if they haven't developed the skill for it.

That makes such a difference for people.

And this:

I am an idealist who at once knows they cannot be reached and paradoxically reach for them anyways because they are worth reaching for more than reality is.

is an interesting statement. I feel that you may not be, in fact, an idealist (that's a good thing, imo) but rather a pragmatist who acknowledges and embraces his own power and responsibility, which is very self-actualized and highly commendable. But regardless, the insight is noteworthy. Thanks.

[–]CovenantoftheSunhealth is attractive0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you, your recognition humbles me.

I'm grateful you take an interest in the idealist paragraph, let me expound on it.

I believe that the higher I set my goals the more I will accomplish. When I was a child a phrase that stuck with me from Howard Pyle was "He who leaps for the moon and misses jumps higher than he who stoops for a penny in the mud."

That sentiment is echoed by a motivational speaker named Les Brown who said, "The problem isn't that people aim high and miss, the problem is that they aim low and hit."

So, say I set a goal for 10 and I make 10. Pretty good, I met my goal. However, if I set my goal for 50 and miss and make 30, I have made 20 more than if I had reached a lower goal.

So, when I say I reach for ideals worth reaching for, here is what I mean. I take an impossible goal like "I want the whole world to understand each other". Impossible, right? However, I will do more and accomplish more and reach a higher contribution in my life than if I set my goal low like "I wish five people would understand each other".

[–]TheScamr0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Life experience. Namely two deployments in the Marines and over 5 years as a youth counselor with gang bangers, prostitutes, sex offenders, drug dealers, all that.

Pretty decent social skills in person. Got stories to tell but know when to listen.

[–]SkentyDooBabbleRed Pill-ish Man0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have various interests and hobbies but I think the ones that make me most attractive are those where I'm a leader:

  • camping / hiking - I love to lead excursions

  • parties / nights out - I like to organize groups to go out

  • travel - I like to lead tour groups, day trips, etc

  • festivals - I'm usually the one keeping the group together, planning our day, etc

I can do all this stuff when I'm not the leader, but I have to really trust the person who is the leader or I'll just fight with them over their shitty leadership. Some people say this makes me a bad person but whatever, fuck them.

I have some hobbies that don't involve so much leadership too - I like to cook, to dance, to practice my spirituality, meditate, do yoga, lift weights, etc etc, but I don't think this stuff is as attractive because it doesn't really offer anything to anyone else.

[–]andrewisgoodYou are a fountain of misinformation0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, I feel people like my shy awkwardness at times. I dated this one woman who loved how awkward I could be and how I presented myself and that gets over with people.

I feel I'm relatively intelligent and politically engaged so I can hold conversations with people. Despite having a rough time financially last year, I'm decently stable now which simply means that I can do whatever I want when I feel like it.

I love travelling and backpacking, though I haven't done it in a few years. I really like being adventurous. I'm also looking to get back into video game collecting.

Ok, so honestly, that probably doesn't sound too impressive as I'm not the typical overly masculine guy, but hey, when you have 2 houses, a good job and decent health, people can fuck off with what they may think. I like to be fun. When you have stability, you can tell your co-workers on a construction site that you're playing Pokemon on that 3DS.

I take my life seriously and work hard. I take my fitness seriously and lift hard. I have extremely high standards for myself and anyone else that wants to join me on my journey.

Im building a VR app for my uni thesis and im probably going to sell it.

I lived in a marrial arts dojo for a year.

My families net worth is 6m+

I came dux of my year

Im 6'4"?

Thats about it. My personality is very dry and straight forward. I hate small talk, you will probably find me offensive when I tell you you're fat/lazy/need to stop playing video games. I don't drink or do drugs unless they increase cognitive performance (modafinil+phenibut).

I used to be depressed and have SAD. I got kicked out of home at 21. I was a viokent kid despite being small in stature.

Honest to god my idea of a good time is pulling an all nighter at uni to get a project done.

Like I said im dry. If you say "I feel fat" I will say "lose weight". If you say "im stressing about this test" I will say "then study for it".

I can be funny but again most people will get offended. I will poke fun at your worst qualities as banter.

My likes include:

Coffee, going to the beach, hiking in the forest, snow, travelling, kinky sex, gym activity, going to the park.

My dislikes include:

shopping, muslims, fat people, gamers, small talk, fake politeness and flattery.

[–]Heathcliff-- -6 points-6 points-6 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

There's no way to answer this without it being an extreme masturbatory humblebrag, so I'm just going to go all out and sell myself. I know for sure I'm a catch, from analysing my own self worth, to the standard of women I attract and the people who I hang out with. I know y'all just gonna say I'm a liar, but there's nothing I can do about that, I'm not gonna verify shit. If I was making all this up that would be some real impressive role-play exercise.

A bit about me: I'm 21, white, aryan, tall, at university in London.

There are two sides of me, the me that other people see, and the me that my girlfriend sees. Here's how the girls in my dorms saw me.

I'm brooding and "mysterious", man of few words, I didn't really talk to anyone or really get involved in the dorm group. I dress like a roadman and smoke a hell of a lot of weed, in a flat full of prissy upper class girls I was a real badboy chad-type. My room was clean and had classic movie and propaganda posters on the walls. I was always downstairs playing pool with the other chads, girls would walk past and say Hi, we'd flirt with them. We'd play basketball outside and let the girls watch us. I can play guitar and would practice in the shared kitchen. I even managed to coax out the shy piano playing asian kid who no one could really make friends with until I arrived, and we'd play together. He was a chill guy.

I can cook, and really well. The first week I moved into dorms I threw a Chilli night for everyone, the whole floor turned up and it was a hit. I make big breakfasts and share my food out, and people often compliment my meals. Being able to cook well at our age is very attractive to some of my plates, and inviting them to cook with me is a real panty dropper.

I have a lot of friends, I brought people up to the flat often, the girls would see me bring a string of Chads to the balcony to smoke with, or girls to fuck. New ones every time. My best friend in dorms was a Russian PostGrad Financial Law student years older than all of us. We were a pretty good team, would smoke and he'd tell me about how banks would eventually own the world. I went to a party once and it got shut down, so I brought the remainder back to my dorm and it continued there, really impressed the shit out of one girl who I lived with who couldn't understand how I could just throw an impromptu party out of nowhere. I sometimes take part in the group politics/ ethics arguments, there is one girl who is loud and boisterous and I challenge her when no one will; I don't say much, but when I talk everyone shuts up to hear me speak, often I will slip in RP truths in a more PC way and everyone would agree. I can direct the conversation easily, say one thing and watch the group follow that path for the next 15 mins without my input until I change the path again.

There are rumours about me and my "lothario-esque" character. Girls I've pumped and dumped say shit about me, the girls in my flat see me bring up plate after plate and hear the loud sex from my room. The flat-girls either took the stance of hating me, or shooting me massive IOIs, I know for a fact a lot of them were into me. When we'd have conversations they would almost always start talking about sex around me. There was a girl who would really put down her boyfriend while we were all hanging out, and treating him like shit, she was into me but I never touched her. There was another girl who acted like she hated me and had a boyfriend, but was shooting IOIs at me like crazy the whole time. Didn't bang any of the girls I lived with, never shit where I eat, and that went to annoy some of them further.

I'm great with kids, I have two younger siblings I've had to dad, and I have a job working for a charity teaching children Maths. I also tutor on the side. I earn a heck of a load and have savings. I have a STEM scholarship. I've cultivated a pretty stoic and dark persona, and that's what I present to people.

My girlfriend knows me for the emotional scarred lump I am on the inside. I had a hard childhood, no dad, insane narcissist mother, childhood bullying, crazy ex girlfriends and teenage drama, worked to earn money since 16. She's seen me cry, seen me go through hard times, drugs, emotional pain. Supported me through all of it. I absolutely adore her cats and they turn me into a big huggy lump of affection, she says it's the weirdest polarity she's seen, calls me a big grabby kid. Sometimes I come visit her only because I miss her cats (she sees right through this). I'm probably going to steal one soon.

We talk about everything together, I'll rant about movies and books and anime. I'll rant a lot about genetics (my discipline) and TRP. She puts up with my rants, the angel. We'll play Yugioh together and go on hikes and trips to European cities. She drives me around in her black and yellow mini cooper and we blast Wiz Khalifa, we drop acid in the woods, or spend days on the sofa doing nothing and watching old movies or Friends. We'll bounce ideas off each other on how to start a marxist revolution, we make a pretty great Pasta Bake and Banana Bread, she'll patiently listen to me rant about politics. I like to surprise her with tickle attacks. I've made it my mission to hide her from any ASoIaF spoilers as she reads the books. We play DnD together. She's the only person who knows I'm just a fucking nerd who likes anime and video games and fantasy, and she loves me for it. She's seen just how beta I can be and sticks around anyway. Real unicorn she is.

Edit: My music taste is all over the place. I really like Nine Inch Nails, I really like Run the Jewels, I really like Grimes, Radiohead, Lana Del Rey. I'm very well read, my favourite book is Roald Dahls Autobiography "Going Solo", but my other tops are "Tales of a Dying Earth, Ender's Game, Atonement, American Psycho."

I know I'm a catch, objectively. I've got a gorgeous supportive girlfriend, and 10's on the side to fill up the gaps. Whenever some girl doesn't reply to my text, ignores me on tinder or is otherwise bitchy, my only thought is "I'm so far out of your league, you had your chance and now you've fucked up. Oh well".

Also I got a big dick.

EDIT: Ey I got all these bloopers talking all about me in their sub and creeping through my post history, I must be pretty darn interesting :D. Thanks girls I appreciate the love, but plz stop spamming me with PMs I'm not looking for no blooper plates. Unless you're hot, then gimme them digits.

I don't see any reference to your raging narcissism...?

Spare him. He's a man of few words.

You said what I was thinking.

Ye my one vice is I spend too much time on Reddit. All the shit that I don't say IRL gets spewed out on the internet under the cover of anonymity.

Well, at least you can take hits and roll with them.

Just looked funny you'd add that you're a person of few words and much mystery while writing a great wall of text describing yourself.

You have other women on the side.

[–]Harbingerofmeh18 points19 points20 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So you have a gorgeous, supportive girlfriend who accepts you, has helped you overcome the trauma of an abusive past, shares your hobbies and interests and gives you unconditional love. And you regularly cheat on her.

You're a wanker.

Your chick is a door mat.

Or she is very well having sex behind your back and you're just stupid enough to not find out.

Wait, I've seen this movie. Something with Jude Law and Sienna Miller?

Christ that was long. I'm also a little surprised you're only 21. I remember you talking pretty passionately about things like marriage and I've always pictured you as a jaded divorcee.

sigh I guess it can't be helped but you've got me all tingly. Alright, I'll share with you some sexy photos of me. Here's one of me posing by the window.

Here's another one of me in a magazine.

If you aren't attracted to me, then you can go perish in gulag!

Interested in hearing how you reconcile your TRP ideology with Marxism.

[–]Heathcliff-- 1 points1 points1 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Being TRP doesn't mean you're married to the alt right.

[–]Levie094 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The fact that you highlight your Aryan heritage doesn't do a lot to enforce that point...

[–]Heathcliff-- 1 points1 points1 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Actually I'm Eastern European ethnically, I just have thick blonde locks and dazzling blue eyes.

[–]pitaenigmaBeta Male Seeks Cock Carouseler6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Then you're not Aryan, you're Slavic.

My girlfriend has brown eyes and brown hair and she's Aryan. Aryan isn't just blond hair and blue eyes, you need to be descended from the right parts of the world.

I sat at a lecture by Shlomo Perl, that's how I know this. For those who don't know him, he survived the Holocaust by joining the Hitler youth and was seen as an exemplar of the Aryan ideal by his teachers.

[–]Heathcliff-- 0 points0 points0 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Don't read too much into it, it was just a way of me saying I was blond and blue eyed in short hand. Didn't know you'd all be so offended...

[–]pitaenigmaBeta Male Seeks Cock Carouseler5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's the equivalent of saying "I have a Jew nose" instead of "my nose is big"

[–]GoldPisseR4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know a lot of women who think blue eyes are feminine.

[–]Levie092 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
