IE divorce in my group of friends is very rare. Out of the 15 couples, one who married father of her 2 kids in her 30s is divorced, one divorced in her early 20s (after husband gave her black eye one times too many) re-married a year later (years ago) and now has 3 kids in as far as I know happy marriage. The rest are all first marriage, married couples who married in their early 20s. Most are not college graduates or were not when they got married and went to college but lived in their marital home. Most of those people are in their 40s with kids now.

So TRP rails on women, but do you think that it's self perpetuating prophecy? Most of people there are part of the hookup culture so they see these identical behaviors and it confirms AWALT for them. In my personal life I see very little of such behaviors (cheating, divorce, going for buff guys, frequent girls nights out, etc.) Only 1 of the people I know (the divorced one) fits the profile to a T. The others not at all. They (including me) all married poor, made their money while married (with women working) and most of the husbands have blue collar jobs. Also most of the women married their first and only partner.

Even my exgf who did dabble in hookup culture in her early 20s (partially the reason why I was able to accept TRP as a valid theory) has been married for over a decade and has multiple kids with her first and only husband. She did fit the AWALT profile back then. My wife is totally different though. Comparing the two completely destroys the AWALT portion of the TRP theory.

Now the other parts (nonnegotiable desire, self improvement the only way to improved sex life, etc) I agree with. Just AWALT is not sitting well with me. Also I don't agree with the oldest teenager in the house theory, but that's for another thread.
