Wouldn't add this on the title cause it's too long, but: if a freaking random Starbucks barista went out of his way to be kind to me and remembered what I liked, your boyfriend can remember your freaking anniversary. If he doesn't do things it's bc HE DOESN'T CARE.

This is a really impactful point. Totally reminds me of my ex who was awful at birthdays and anniversaries. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt because he was "busy," "working hard," and "trying his best." It wasn't until I visited him at work and saw how he went out of his way to be thoughtful and kind to his coworkers/customers that I realized he does indeed have the capacity to be better, he just wouldn't do it for me.

This reminds me of a barista who has a crush on one of my friends. He gives her free coffees at Costa, he gave me a free one too. This friend is drop dead beautiful, most of the time a barista or barman will ask for her number. I've had similar treatment myself. I remember this bus driver would never charge me when I used to get the bus to college. I saved a small fortune.
