We had family therapy to help my ex in his relationship with our kids. I was mostly quiet, because the issues aren't really about me. The (female) therapist asked my opinions on some things & I offered them. Ex kept interrupting. I would just stop talking with a smile on my face. He was making it very clear to the therapist what a douche he was by his behavior towards me. Finally, he interrupted one too many times and the therapist told him "you had your turn. You interrupt her every time she talks. Why do you do that? And in front of your daughters?" Shut him down good. Later, he threw me out of therapy because I actually expect him to do the things in our divorce decree, but that's fine. I look forward to him trying to interrupt a judge...

A man who interrupts me, apology or no, is a man I don’t need to be around. It’s really not that hard, watch them to speak to other men and most of them are perfectly capable of it.

I've noticed an issue where I don't get a chance to start speaking. because of the mansplaining. I'm the service owner and they're too busy explaining the service to me, to let me address the problem. and then I'm an asshole when I interrupt. was just wondering if men experience this also..

Just remembered a few months ago, when my boomer boss cut me off in a Zoom meeting, and announced to everyone 'I want to apologize to everyone for interrupting you' and I still can't make sense of that (he didn't apologize to me, but to everyone else?...)

I'm a fairly laconic person when it comes to speaking, and am very strategic in choosing effective words (in order to say more in less time), so I know that I wasn't long-winded.

I never realized until I started dating the new guy just how vital it is to screen for this. I was so used to my ex-husband and his lackadaisacal approach to our relationship that it became normal. I'd tell him I didn't like something and he'd stop doing it for about a wk and then go right back to doing it.

I told a male colleague last week to stop interrupting me and when he then tried explaining what I just said to the business execs I told him the group didn’t need a recap and they understood me just fine. I don’t think he’ll be doing that again.

I’m dating a newer guy who interrupts me in conversation the way most people do, to relate or add a point, and then immediately returns to me saying “sorry, you were saying XYZ, go ahead.” It’s not necessary because he’s not really being rude (in my opinion...I feel like everyone is guilty of interrupting in this way), but he gives the conversation back to me every time. It’s so refreshing.
