She's a prop in the scheme for elite globalists to push through a bogus "carbon tax" on the masses while they continue to live in luxury.
Gated communities for themselves, ghettos for their servants...that's the grand plan.

I’m all for working on solutions to climate change, even if it is considered presumptuous by some to assume it’s primarily man-caused. That’s an “on the safe side” assumption, and that’s fine.
But carbon taxes are a retarded non-solution. They don’t actually do anything to mitigate the problem, and all they will do is take money from some people and move it to others. Even some of their proponents in the UN are on record as saying they’re wealth redistribution schemes. My biggest gripe with that is not even the taxation being at my expense, but that you can be damn sure that the money will be heavily skimmed off of like a shady charity (see: United Way, UNICEF) and not go to anything even related to the issue.
[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well look at a lot of the so called greens. They either used to be "reds" or still are. Climate change is just the excuse that allows them to grab enormous amounts of state control over the economy. None of their mad schemes will impinge on their lives. The elite in the Soviet Union lived pretty well because they still had access to personal cars and luxury goods.
[–]RandomGarry-3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Most greens weren't alive when the soviet union existed....as for state control.....The biggest environmental movement in history is calling for Citizens assemblies which are the exact opposite of state control....You don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about......all you think you know is what you've been fed by big business and their puppets in the government and the media
[–]Jarin0114 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think we can all agree that not polluting the environment is a good thing. Also moving away from fossil fuels to renewable energy should also be a no-brainier. We are reaching a point where renewable energy costs less then fossil fuels and it isn't like we have an unlimited supply of oil.
[–]roy2828211 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No carbon taxes in China. Only in the west. No need to guess to much why is that.
[–]CaptainObvious50007 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh it gets better in Canada, here they take the carbon tax and then give it back in the form of rebates. Or so that’s how they sell it when in reality the tax is applied to everything purchased and the rebate is a small finite amount. Yet they claim the rebate will make up the costs? Then why tax if you’re going to give it right back??? Complete nonsense
[–]ana_lizer-1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
well if you got a car that doesn't cause carbon emission, that's an automatic investment on keeping the environment safe. a "contribution" that returns back with the rest of the taxes, I guess?
[–]throwmyaccountaway9943 points44 points45 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
If they really cared about saving the environment, they could just stop flying everywhere and use cars and instead just use internet conferences. But as you said, they don't really care about it. Just more excuses to squeeze out more money out of you.

The hypocrisy is just annoying. Really hating politicians even more lately. Here they also complain about muh pensions no pension money, while letting most in police or whatever retire at 48 with a way higher pension than they should get. Or other similar crap of wasted money.
Really in my opinion the problem is that the govt isn't held responsible for wasting money. If they are caught wasting it, then there should be less taxes, period, because it means they have so much that they waste it. When you give a guy 100$ and he uses 90$ for alcohol and hookers while only really using 10$ to do his job. Why the fuck would you give him more money when he says he doesn't have enough to do his job? You give him 20$ tops.
[–]RandomGarry1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Politicians don't care about the environment which is why fuck all is being done to fix the problem...some politicians pay lip service to CC and the media tells people to recycle and buy electric cars because it benefits big business. People who actually give a shit are calling for taxation on polluters not on average citizens. People who oppose Climate action are useful idiots that serve big business

Carbon taxes are effective in reducing CO2 output and optimizing energy consumption.
Edit: Point in case: Oil crisis of 1973 where OPEC tried to strong arm the West. It revolutionized gas consumption effectiveness in cars and effectively killed OPEC's power forever.
Carbon taxes would spur on new thinking and ways to reduce our carbon foot print. To say taxes can't be used to alter behavior is just flat out wrong.
[–]tricks_2349 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
When I'm getting taxed to the hilt to "save the planet" and told to buy electric cars, and a factory in China is producing more Co2 in an hour than I'll ever produce in 5 lifetimes, that's where I find myself sceptical of the agenda. Start pressuring the main polluters, then you can ask individuals to chip in

[+]VerdantFuppe-6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Because it is much, much more effective if it is organized and administrated as a team effort. Of course you as an individual will still be able to do many things, but you as a consumer would not stand much chance against corporate giants that pollute a lot. A carbon tax would.
[–]StayClassySD15 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Except all of us with common sense know how this kind of thing actually goes down. The biggest corporations and the richest globalist elites who bribe the politicians from both sides with "campaign donations" will be given loopholes, exemptions, or "waivers" to skirt around the taxes, AS ALWAYS.
(see Amazon pays zero federal taxes on 11.2 billion in profits, while at the same time receiving 129 million dollars in federal tax rebates: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/03/why-amazon-paid-no-federal-income-tax.html)
(see how McDonalds and Jack in the Box received a "waiver" to not provide full healthcare to their workers under obamacare while their competitors still had to: https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2010/10/11/mcdonalds-obamacare-deal-violates-rule-of-law/)
As usual, small businesses and the middle and lower classes will actually be the ones forced to foot the bill at the end of the day after the polluting corporations who actually do get taxed just raise their prices on the consumer accordingly.
[–]DecentRiver2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No it isn't, the number one corporation on the planet that is least efficient and wastes the most is the government
The amount of bullshit red tape and bureaucracy and power they hold, they waste our money over and over without a care.
Also, do you really think corporations will pay that polluting tax? Because it always ends up with the middle class getting taxed the fuck out of existent to provide for the lower class whilst simultaneously covering the asses of the people who don't pay their share of the taxes in the upper class
[–]some1thing1[S] 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You cant tax your way into prosperity. You can only cripple industry.
[–]213546416546845 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Crank up carbon taxes for industry in the US and you will see industrial pollution be reduced... because they will move it overseas.
I'd say outsourcing manufacturing is the main reason air quality has gotten better in the US over the years, even though we have a larger population with more power plants, cars, trucks, planes, trains, ships, etc. and we consume much more gasoline/oil than ever before. We don't make anything here anymore. Even "domestic" cars are simply assembled here using parts manufactured everywhere else in the world where these taxes don't exist. The big corporations that stand to pay huge taxes can afford to move overseas, or lobby for a loophole that will exempt them. The smaller companies that can't are the ones that this hits the hardest.
If they carbon tax individuals this time instead of industries, it will be another form of inflation. You pay more taxes now, everything else will follow eventually. They'll eventually have to raise minimum wage, prices will go up everywhere, the new taxes won't be enough anymore, and the cycle will repeat. Each one of these new taxes is the government's way of offsetting the insane amount of debt they have created. The debt compounds, as do the taxes. New debt, new taxes. Eventually something has to break.
Hopefully it will be the corruption, ignorance and blind ideology in the US Government before the Biosphere.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What its likely to do is kill off the last vestiges of our manufacturing base. Said multinationals will relocate to China where they will create vastly more emissions and put out lots of marketing wank for the normies professing how "green" they are. We have been able to solve our so called "emissions" problem since the 60's with nuclear power but the environmental lobby want useless solar panels and wind farms which are far more costly, less efficient, more carbon intensive and which are going to result in a serious economic contraction.
[–]WanderlustYouth0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]VerdantFuppe8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]ButtFart884 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agreed. So when I state that there’s no demonstrable link between human carbon emissions and rising temperature, especially to a level that is damaging, that’s a fact that your opinion has no bearing on.
[–]drakal70 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
oh didn't knew about that.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh it's very much there. If CO2 didn't cause a greenhouse effect the earth would be an icebox.
In fact at several times between 715Mya and 635Mya the entire earth glaciated in an event called "Snowball earth" or a period called the Cryogenian. There is evidence for mass glaciation even at the equator at this time. Near as we can understand it was finally brought to an end because the earth effectively had no rain or chemical weathering to remove carbon from the atmosphere in this time and eventually so much CO2 built up it finally caused a catastrophic thaw. It probably rained catastrophically for thousands of years and acid rain like battery acid probably fell. If it hadn't been for that, the Cambrian explosion from which most complex modern animal and plant groups originate from never would have happened.
What people like Al Gore don't mention when they show their CO2 and temperature data for the past 2.7 million years is the last 2.7 million years has been one of the coldest ice ages in 635 million years. About 50 million years ago India collided with Asia and pushed up one of the highest mountain ranges in earth history. The chemical weathering and large volumes of ice at altitude created removed most of the CO2 from earths atmosphere. It was sort of fortunate that 55 million years ago earths climate was so warm there were crocodiles in the arctic ocean and within the last 17 million years we had a flood basalt eruption in what is now the Pacific northwest. Otherwise we might well have had a "snowball earth". It's very fortunate that humans came along and dumped a shit load of carbon into the atmosphere. We have probably broken this glaciation cycle earth was stuck in for at least 100,000 years.
The only other time since snowball earth CO2 and temperature was as low as the last 2.7 million years ago was the end Carboniferous-early Permian. The Carboniferous saw earth dominated by near total forestation of trees which had only just evolved at that time but where as today when a tree dies an entire ecosystem of bacteria and insects consume the dead organic material and release the carbon bound up in Cellulose. These organisms hadn't yet evolved at the time and we see the evidence today in vast coal deposits of all the carbon they removed. Just 50 million years later you see the greatest extinction in human history caused by catastrophic volcanism in the Siberian traps and probably oceans warmed to the point of a methane hydrate release. So the mass release of greenhouse gas. Likewise that neat little story about the rock killing the dinosaurs might not be entirely accurate. Yes the rock hit and did a lot of damage but a flood basalt in the Deccan in India probably was the deciding factor in the mass extinction and life was already on hard times when the rock hit.
The 400ppm they are losing their minds about now is actually pretty low as far as the last 600 million years goes.

First of all, since the times of ancient Greece and Rome certain philosophers have theorized that the human population was too high and needed to be reduced.... they've always been wrong. Not only were they wrong, but the carrying capacity of the earth has constantly increased as farming/agricultural techniques and technologies have advanced.
Second, just look up the medieval warm period which occurred long before the industrial revolution, temperatures were just as hot as today, or the "little Ice age" that occurred shortly after. The earth's climate has constantly fluctuated. I'm all for advancing and finding safer, cleaner technologies but screeching about apocalyptic prophesies and carbon taxing the economy into oblivion is NOT the way to move forward with that.

I cannot stand the media and civil frenzy around this brat. There is something entirely disturbing about the way today’s society acts and rules. People do not understand logic or reason, a well worded argument or discussion, or anything of rational, as most MGTOW men do.
Is the environment important? Yes. Is climate change something happening (regardless of man made or not)? Yes. Should we care as a species? Yes, probably. Is it a good cause to try to do things in our control to better our own existence and that of our future inheritors? Yes.
Should we have given the attention and platform of the most powerful governments in the world, and probably a combine total of billions of dollars of investment to a spoiled angry bitchy looking brat that has no understand or concept of anything worth value (scientific degree, peer reviewed research, decades of study, etc), who offered nothing and could not due to her age and inexperience to solve the problem, but just stood there angrily accusing everyone around her of being bad people basically? Jesus tap dancing Christ no!
This is ridiculous, another publicity stunt for attention and diversion, and diversity. There has been a panel of world wide experts in the field numbering almost 5000 if I remember correctly that have warned about this all (climate change) and would have probably Literally have given there lives for a chance to present their argument and solutions to the UN/ world because they are that passionate about finding a solution... but no, we let a child... a friggen child, have that time. Elites are the ones causing climate change though, and the ones who benefit the most in the short term from not preventing it. The insane irony here is that when a non-elite finally creates enough of a stir to break into the mainstream media saying this, y'all cite the problem she's explicitly targeting as an argument against her. The unexamined irrationality of "the elites I hate are doing the thing the left says is bad and needs to stop, therefore the left is a tool of the elites and needs to be stopped" is wild.

The use of children as human shields isn't appropriate in wartime. It is a sign of desperation, a sign that you are already defeated, and are more interested in causing as much collateral damage as possible before the end.
If I was genuinely concerned about this issue, I would be extremely upset that this issue has degenerated into cheap theatrics and hostage taking. And she is a hostage, just as much as Patty Hearst was a hostage of the Symbionese Liberation Army.

I appreciate the sentiment, I don’t know what the gold does anyways nor do I want to pay for reddit lol. But yes absolutely, it’s unreal. I’m just glad that even if it’s a few there are still a few rational people out there who realize this.
Edit: It’s slow at work so I may as well add this. The more I think about it the more unnerving the whole thing is. It’s perfectly despicable. Think about it. The right says, “She’s just a child she doesn’t understand.” And they are correct. “The left says, “Look she’s just a child see how much she cares!” And they are correct also. Technically both sides are correct however both are not inherently as they are based on fallacious appeals in logic the delegitimize the argument and individual as a whole. And through the created diversion they can bicker and fight over the individual child instead of spending any time, money, effort, or energy actually trying to solve an issue. I swear the Romans would have been astounded, we have perfected bread and circus and the masses don’t even understand the machine they are born, live, and die unto.

That doesn’t mean a child can never be smart. How do you know she has no understanding of the things that you listed?
[–]volsung80811 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I would say the same hypothetical how do you know she does? But that is besides the point. She may be incredibly smart, maybe gifted, but that is not the point. That is a straw man argument. The discussion is over the fact other more qualified individuals were ignored in favor of a child. A child that also even if gifted, more than likely like 99.999999% lacks the knowledge and experience of more qualified individuals. And a child that did not offer a solution but merely complains and accused others of their inability for action. It is a genetic fact that children both men and women do not have the same mental faculties or capacities as adults; their brains do not fully mature till about 21 for females and 26 for males; with increasing evidence that it may even be later in life. Your argument is not logically sound nor rational, nor factual. If you came here to troll or further argue I will not participate.
[–]The-Pokester4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ok. I wasn’t trying to troll or argue. You made good points, I just got kinda defensive. I think a child may have attracted more attention, maybe that’s why she was chosen, idk. But at least you put forward facts instead of resorting to just insulting her.
[–]volsung8087 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I appreciate it. I’m just a bit defensive because there are so many trolls on here. And yes, I am not necessarily upset at her, as some other posters put on here she is absolutely being used. Just like many of the recent children in all these sjw movements they are being used as hostages and taken advantage of and it’s appalling. I don’t want to insult children and I will not necessarily make fun of her, besides how pissy she looked my gad, but it is completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and cowardly for these governments, parents, and agencies to use children to further their agendas. I’m more frustrated/ pointing out that fact then actually attacking the child.
For example: I started Brazilian ju jitsu last year. As talented as the purple belt kid say same age as her, may be, they still cannot roll with the same level adult let alone probably a lower belt adult and no black belt on the planet would let her lead say an expert panel discussion on new techniques and ideas. The kid does not have the experience, growth, mental or physical prowess, knowledge, or similar levels of anything as the adult. Same for any field. As talented as a young auto tech may be they simply do not have the experience or aptitude of the master level mechanic or engineer. It is not an insult of intelligence but more lack of experience. Let’s say she becomes the lead researcher in climate change, writes respectable papers, gives speeches and dissertations, etc later on in life. I would then respect the hell out of her. But this? This is one step away from child abuse.
[–]PSI_Fire-1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Your argument is not logically sound nor rational, nor factual.
They posted two sentences to you, one of which was a question. What wasn't "factual" or "logically sound" about what they said?
The discussion is over the fact other more qualified individuals were ignored in favor of a child.
And who has been doing the ignoring? That's a pretty pertinent factor in this situation.
Maybe the whole point is that many people were ignoring the 'more qualified individuals' regardless, and for some, it wasn't until a kid spoke up that they started paying attention (for whichever reason).
And a child that did not offer a solution but merely complains and accused others of their inability for action.
"Merely complains"? Isn't your whole comment about how children lack the mental faculties to be relevant here? Moreover, that's a bastardization of her actions. Part of her platform has been encouraging people to actually listen to the qualified people on climate change.
Part of being rational is recognizing your biases. Preemptively implying others are irrational or illogical is a cheap way to protect your worldview.

Dying in a ball of fire? What?
Sorry to break it to you, but the planet has nowhere near the type of inner temperature necessary to ever go back to the Hadean era. The closest we could ever get to this would be if a giant asteroid struck the Earth again, breaking the solid outer crust, just like what happened when the Moon was formed. But as far as I'm aware, that type of thing won't happen for hundreds of years still, if ever.
If you actually want to find a way to improve life on Earth, convince the world to reproduce less so there's less strain on resources. Or find a way to produce more resources, in a renewable way that doesn't destroy ecosystems in the long term. Or try to directly save those ecosystems, by stopping people from frivolously throwing away non-biodegradable products like plastic everywhere, and particularly in the waters. Find a way to biodegrade plastics, in ocean waters and in the thousands of landfills around the world. Or push industrialization to the next step by finding a way to have unlimited energy, with nuclear fusion (cold or otherwise). Push countries to rely more on nuclear power, especially for ships. (Since current ship transportation consumes an utterly outrageous amount of fuel, which leads to electric cars generally being worse for the environment over their lifetime than a standard car would be, since those generally must be shipped across the ocean. Not to mention how much pollution building those electric car batteries produces, or how much more they create when they're being disposed of.)
Find a way to solve any of the above problems, and then you'll have made an effective impact on the planet. Until then, it's all just political garbage, trying to pretend to have the moral high ground while offering no solution that will have any impact other than destroying our economy, and making it harder to effectively develop better technologies in the long term.
Well... that will do nothing to change anything, then.

They went extinct because they were hunted by humans. It's not like humans are being hunted by animals with spears.
[–]NohoTwoPointOh0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You completely missed the point. The point is that there was an ice age on earth before any industrialization. This ice age began a drastic change before industrialization. I do not doubt that we are in climate change. I do doubt that it is 100% or even 50% man-made. The earth has and will continue to experience climate cycles that swing from ice age to tropical sweatbox.
Does it mean we should not reduce pollution? No. Does it mean that earth is going to be earth and that there are serious alarmists attributing things to "man-made" causes that likely are not? Yep.
[–]GL91060 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Humans weren't designed to live in extremely cold places, but we were able to adapt to the environment. When the Ice Age came around, people started to make coats to keep themselves warm. Wooly Mammoths can't just take their fur off, they couldn't adapt which is why they went extinct.
[–]-Fender-12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
That's one possible way we could die off as a species, sure. Or it could be nuclear war, starvation from overpopulation, mass poisoning from bioweapons, super viruses, a giant asteroid, AI taking over the world, our heads collectively exploding from spectacularly bad pop music incessantly playing on the radio, etc.
The problem with all the discussions on the environment is that it's a field utterly rampant with bad science. The entire decision to blame CO2 for all of the world's ills started because some activist decades ago, decided she hated capitalism and wanted to find a way to fight against industrialism, and she decided to pay researchers to find a reason to make people want to produce less carbon dioxyde. And what they stumbled upon was that the planet was progressively, but very slowly, warming up, and so they decided to just claim that the reason for that was entirely carbon dioxyde. As much evidence as if they'd blamed the diminishing number of pirates, essentially. And climate models haven't improved since. I also remember reading a study predicting a warming of 0.5 degrees celcius in the next decade, with an error margin of + or - 1 degree celcius. That's the type of science we're dealing with here.
The truth is that Earth is still poorly understood as a system. Every single model has been outrageously wrong, because they always fail to account for many factors, and because they willfully ignore many factors that would tend to invalidate the agenda they're trying to push across. Not to mention how those researches and nearly always funded by political or activist organizations that are looking for a specific result, and paying scientists to reach it somehow. The real answer is that yes, the Earth is slowly warming up. Just as it has been for hundreds of years. How much impact human beings are actually having in the warming, is unclear. At the very least, the most real, direct effect that more carbon dioxyde in the atmosphere will have, will be to help trees grow more numerously, and taller.
This being said, there should be more than just carbon dioxyde to consider. That's why I hate all of those retarded discussions that focus only on this, since whether or not it really has an effect on temperature is still entirely unproven. Other gases, however, like CFC substances and methane, do have an impact, but we basically never hear about them.
But there are much more important issues with the environment right now than any of those gases, in my opinion. Things that we should really focus on, are how much plastic, soap, hormones, lead, mercury, sulfur and other substances we throw in the water. Especially in places like Thailand and China, where rivers are literally where people go to throw their garbage. This is something we're directly responsible for, and that we could actually change. And I agree that we should work to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. In the first place, it was always a limited resource. We would have had to come up with alternatives sooner or later, so working on this sooner is better. But not at the price of destroying our economy for some nebulous, poorly-proven agenda that will fail to actually accomplish its intended results. And especially not when the largest producers of carbon dioxyde, India and China, have not the slightest intention of following suit.
They're not going after the right people, they're not going after the right causes, they're not offering the right solutions. That's why I don't take the vast majority of environmental activists seriously. It's basically all just playing politics, with "science" being nothing more than a pretext.
Things that we should really focus on, are how much plastic, soap, hormones, lead, mercury, sulfur and other substances we throw in the water. Especially in places like Thailand and China, where rivers are literally where people go to throw their garbage.
Thatd be more concrete and help the planet a whole lot more than trying to fight the weather.
[–]itstimetoendit2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Indeed, our reefs make up the majority of carbon processing and turning it into oxygen.
Not to mention all the shit thats in the water now.
[–]some1thing1[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Itd be nice to get a solution to all the run off from the farms washing into the ocean. If I remember correctly its causing a population explosion of jellyfish or something because of all the nutrients in to water. These are all concrete things that environmentalists could be focused on. Instead theyd rather fight with everyone about the weather.
[–]asuus2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You've linked breitbart and want me to take anything you say about climate change seriously?
That being said, I do understand you scepticism. I love the environment. But these environmental activists are a bunch of fucking deluded morons ran by an ideology that is based on feelings and not science.
Listen to the actual scientists who make the models and do the work. Don't listen to breitbart or the activists. They are just a PR machine for whatever cause they support.
[–]-Fender-0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I linked breitbart, even though I basically never read it, after I saw this specific article posted in a subreddit I visited, because it has valuable information that is relevant in this case. I posted it, because it specifically has links to all the studies and researches it mentions, that made predictions that turned out to be wrong. I don't care for the article as much as the large amount of links it provided, and that it the take-away that you should have had.
Instead of judging only on the source, you should judge on the content.
[–]asuus0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Let's go through some of the linked studies Breitbart uses and judge the content instead.
This is a newspaper clipping from the 60s where they are worried about food shortage from population growth. Not really about the climate. Definitely a problem in modern times too, luckily we've effectivised farming somewhat.
Newspaper clipping from the 60s where a biologist talks about pollution and food shortage. A lot of hyperbole over coffee. A concern in many places. Look at Chinas cities and rivers, pollution is rampant and deadly.
This one was an odd prediction. Newspaper from 1970, a scientist claims we will use up all the oxygen in the air. Seems like bullshit and antiquated science.
1970 newspaper. Claims DDT levels in our ecosystem will be harmful to humans, this is confirmed and DDT has been banned in most countries. Talks about oceans dying, this is an ongoing problem where the coral reefs and other oceanic ecosystems are struggling. Can read more here https://www.noaa.gov/education/resource-collections/ocean-coasts-education-resources/ocean-acidification
Newspaper article 1971. Scientists are worried about fine dust gathering up in the atmosphere. This is a legit concern and it does happen from volcanic eruptions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1883_eruption_of_Krakatoa#Global_climate The 1883 eruption of Krakatoa is a great example of this as it caused cold summers for the next couple of years and famines. It’s the same theory behind using ships to make artificial clouds. http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20190220-how-artificially-brightened-clouds-could-stop-climate-change It seems to be less of an issue with things like CO2 because it’s better at trapping heat on earth rather than reflecting it back into space, causing global warming, not cooling. https://skepticalscience.com/empirical-evidence-for-co2-enhanced-greenhouse-effect.htm
Here is an actual scientific letter written to the US administration. It’s really pointless to look at this and say it’s junk science. The report says «Existing data still does do not allow forecast of the precise timing of the predicted development, nor the assessment of the man’s interference with the natural trends». It’s essentially a letter that highlights scientists concern for the future of the climate, but they don’t have data to make conclusions. Good one Breitbart.
I’m jumping a little to go at some other points.
---9. This one is not a good link from breitbart. This is confirmed science. There is a hole in the ozone layer. That’s why the world came together in the 80s to ban CFC gases which caused the hole. Since the ban, the hole started shrinking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_depletion https://www.nrdc.org/experts/david-doniger/we-saved-ozone-layer-we-can-save-climate
---10. This is a repeat of number 5.
---11. Although acid rain was a little overhyped in the media, probably due to the scary name and cool headlines, it is a real problem. https://www.epa.gov/acidrain/what-acid-rain
---13. Droughts are here to stay, use California as an example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Droughts_in_California
Global warming is interesting, but it’s honestly not named very well. Climate change is more appropriate because it reflects the real effects of what happens from the warming. Weather will become more extreme, more droughts some places. More rainstorms. More hurricanes. The extremes will have huge impact on third world countries. https://www.unhcr.org/climate-change-and-disasters.html
Millions and probably hundreds of millions of people will be displaced because their areas will become inhospitable with droughts and other extreme weather.
---24. I really loved this one so I had to include it. Really Breitbart? You want to use a british politician as a scientific source for climate change? «UK Prime Minister Says 50 Days to ‘Save The Planet From Catastrophe’»
I can continue, but I don’t imagine it would help make my point much clearer. Science is looking for the answer instead of digging our heads in the sand and pretending that nothing is happening.
For every source Breitbart uses, I can dig up 10 more to counter it. The article was complete bullshit which uses emotionally charged language to dig up a response from the reader. Their reference use is only to make them look good on the surface, but any digging will immediately tell you they are full of shit.

Not the 20,000+ nukes we currently possess and a small miscalculation between world powers causing WW3? WW3 is more likely to be our doom than climate change. We are talking hundreds of years for climate change to really doom us, Nukes will do that in a day

We're just gonna wing it. it's obvious that climate change isn't a priority to most people, not when you are in a rat race that keeps most a paycheck away from being homeless. too many carbon emissions? too bad. I have to get to work. too much garbage? I have to buy food, water conservation? gotta shower and clean shit. You all get the idea. there are no solutions to this and the people pushing this kid to fear monger world know it as well. they're just gonna tax you to death.

Wanna protest climate change? Stop buying shit.
[–]dotslashlife7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
In addition to everyone stop buying new things, everyone needs to stop having kids, stop using AC and heat, eat half as much, stop eating meat. And we need to force all of that on India and China.
Either that, or we kill off 30% of humans.
Think about that the next time you elect someone who believe too strongly in the topic.
Global warming can’t be fixed by electric cars or efficiencies.
[–]HaywoodJablomie6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Kids is the operative word. One kid per couple is fine, it creates a population growth rate of 1/2. I would like to see serial breeders taxed heavily, not rewarded. AC I can get behind but where I live, I need some kind of heat. It can get to -40 and even colder. Something has to be burned to keep warm!
One thing those snooty electric car drivers forget is that batteries die and the acids in those things make them very difficult to dispose of. If you think global warming is bad, imagine the devastation if those acids contaminate our water supply.
[–]-hacked0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
FWIW, having one child per couple = depopulation. You are only replacing one person in the couple, so a minus one overall. That is why the nuclear family was 2.5 children, to replace both the parents and the .5 for growth.
[–]ThomasSowell_Alpha8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
People have some retarded notion that the government can decide how to fix the climate. Like wtf. The government can't even do most of its shit right, yet we are to believe that by passing laws, they will fix the climate?
If there truely is some democratic majority that wants something, then they don't have to pass a fucking law. They can vote with their feet ,and make consumer choices.
But no. People just like to complain, and just want other people to fix their problems. In this scenario, Government needs to fix their problem, with money from greedy rich people. These assholes really just want someone else to fix their problems while they still go out and create consumer demand for plastics which they apparently hate

It's the covington high school kid Nick Sandman who did absolutely nothing wrong, but got harassed, slandered and threatened with violence by the mainstream media "journalists" and "woke" twitter lefties with blue check marks.
What the leftist/mainstream media said about the covington kids: "Evil racist maga hat wearing conservatives assaulted and harassed a poor innocent native american vietnam veteran and marginalized person of color who did nothing wrong"
What actually happened: Covington high kids were holding a peaceful demonstration at DC, The native american guy who is a military vet but never served in vietnam comes up to them, beats his drum and yells in their faces, and nick sandman just stood their, held his ground and smiled at him.
For those who wonder. Kid on the right and his classmates (catholic school) were used in a big fake news by mainstream medias. Basically, they were singing songs in peace. Natives came to protest the same way, peacefully. Medias tuned it like that : Natives celebrating their pride attacked and provocked by young MAGA activists.
