I don't think the girls here constantly expect a guy to pay for their entire lifes or anything. Just tends to be a bit of a bad sign when a guy expects dates to be transactional and 100% egalitarian all of the time--relationships are not intrinsically egalitarian...women for example deal with far more risk, and actually do need to make sure that the man is really interested in her--and men that are more interested in women actually tend to pay for dates more than the ones that aren't as interested. Not always, yes, but if a man really wants to impress a woman, he tends to want to take the initiative. You see them tell on themselves constantly by revealing in their own circles they'd pay for women they think are "really worth it" or "10/10".
For example--a man that's super paranoid about gold diggers and constantly expects his gf to "prove herself" by paying for stuff is far more likely going to be the man that isn't going to be generous when she gets pregnant, even when she really needs the help or support, and instead of seeing her merits and wanting to take care of her when she's out of commission, he will probably be more likely distance himself or even resent her for suddenly being so "lazy". He sees her as an adversary. When the precedent of "she's just like a guy friend I can fuck" gets set that stays the baseline. It really is as simple as that.
I think a lot of gender roles are just outdated but generally men being the more generous ones actually tends to serve a functional purpose. Though otherwise I don't think many women here actually want all their bills to be all paid by a man.
