Fucking around, playing with people's feelings or abusing people is not a "phase", it's who you are. You're either capable of saying "I love you" to your partner, pretending to be monogamous and then fucking a side chick on the same day... or you're not. Only certain people are even capable of doing that once in a lifetime and they are not normal.

THE SHIT PEOPLE DO IN THE "BAD PHASES" OF THEIR LIFE SHOW WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY'RE MADE OF.

I have serious anxiety disorders, depression and substance abuse issues on and off. I can't say I've done particularly horrible things in my life, but obviously being miserable will cause you to do some unhealthy or shameful things to whatever degree. I don't feel like anything negative I've done wasn't me. It was me, making decisions and choosing those unhealthy or unhelpful things. It was all me.

I do not believe in hall passes given for mental illness, bad times or alcohol/drugs.

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS ARE NEVER A VALID EXCUSE FOR ABUSING PEOPLE. Ever. It's still you and still your responsibility.

People do not magically change into someone else every few years. You can work on certain things, improve lifestyle habits, get therapy - but you're still you, with the same weaknesses, even if you got a bit better in general. A leopard does not change its spots. Some people are more hard wired to certain traits, that won't change. It will always at least take them far more work to maintain a certain level that other people don't have to put any effort into.

Also, a lot of people feel like they changed because they actively quit a behaviour like cheating. They recognized it was a behaviour that isn't generally accepted in society and was getting them into trouble. They may not feel true gut wrenching remorse, bit they feel compelled to change due to consequences they didn't like and made them feel bad, confusing regret for true remorse. So they try their best to change, but who wants a guy who's desperately TRYING not to cheat, versus a guy who just doesn't think about it? I know which one I choose. Also a previous cheater is often likely to cave in and do it again because they have that urge for validation/attention/excitement that won't disappear.

I judge people on their dating/relationship history when it comes to being in a relationship with them and I don't feel any shame in that. History does repeat itself, over and over. I judge them on how they treated other people in the past and how they view sex and all kinds of things. Anyone that views sex as a fun thing to do to a random person or to multiple people at a time is not compatible with me for a relationship. A man that cheated on people is not enough for me. A man that has a history of lying and deceiving is of no interest to me. A man that ever treated a woman like dirt, no matter how "crazy" or "horrible" she was, will not be an option to me. I don't want a man who's capable of that.

I notice some pickmeishas revel in the idea that they're so wonderful compared to a guy's exes that he won't cheat on them or abuse them like he did to others. They join in with him and spew venom about his exes, and delight in viewing themselves as more worthy, more loved and more attractive than those women, since he was so shitty to them but he's wonderful to the pickmeisha. Some of them actually view it as conquering a man; they view it as if they have changed the man with their greatness and essentially view him as higher value because he was harder to capture love from. They use his abuse towards his exes to get off - sexually and for an ego boost and power trip. It's really sick and I've seen it numerous times. But the problem for them is that he is likely to do the exact sane thing to them if given enough time... OR the best possible outcome is that he may want to but refrains because she's constantly either whipping him into line or trying harder and harder to be the Cool Girl, compromising herself more and more... just so that he'll only be flirting with other women, or going on lunch dates, or watching cam girls, or following hot chix on instagram, or just did 1 accidental kiss... because, unless his penis went in a vagina then it's not really cheating. These types are all the same.

People just are what they are. He's deluding himself by thinking that not currently cheating means he's a different person. He was not abducted by aliens and implanted with software that forced him to lie to people about STIs, forced him to expose people to them, lie about his feelings and intentions, have side chicks etc. I mean this guy doesn't sound like he'd even REALISE that there are men who don't WANT casual sex or side chicks or unprotected sex with randos. This dude will never be one of them and is therefore not qualified to be in a relationship with most women, not even a purely sexual one, since he's so unsafe.

My SO definitely lied about his past. I gathered some stuff later, like affair with a married woman, an almost hook up with a girlfriend of a friend and stuff he doesnt do to me but did to others (i gathered it ober the years). To this day i have no idea with how many women he slept, but he is no don juan.
