Reddit has really made me aware of how common a problem this is. Hygiene is really such an easy thing to accomplish, and has far reaching effects in terms of desirability to potential partners and success in the workplace and socially in general, but so many men seem ethically opposed to showering, brushing their teeth and wearing deodorant and clean clothes every day. I have literally never in my life known a woman as dirty as an average man. I would never dream of getting into bed with a man if I had a smelly crotch, or kissing them with unbrushed teeth, just out of a sense of my own dignity, but men seem to not only be shameless about it, but are actually offended by the suggestion that they need to maintain minimal hygiene. If nothing else, doesn't being dirty make them itchy and uncomfortable? What the F is going on here? Is this just an American thing? Why is this bizarre and easily fixable problem of men being willfully dirty and smelly such an intractable issue?
