It took a minute for what happened to actually sink in because I was absolutely blindsided by this, and I was really uncomfortable when it did. I almost ended up crying at my desk.

Greg sent me an email about it. It basically went “Hi OP, sorry I made you uncomfortable earlier. However, you’re the most interesting person who works here, and I’d still like to get to know you better. Maybe we can start off as friends for a while?”

And now I’m extremely uncomfortable again.

Unless it was a boss who directly supervised her, I don’t see how simply asking a girl out is a reportable offense. The guy was polite afterwards and dropped it. This is in no way harassment or an unsafe work environment so if actions are taken on the guy then the system is beyond unfair. Unpopular opinion: I agree with the woman on this. That's super inappropriate in a work setting. Maybe, just maybe, in the break room or outside the office during a moment of passing. But coming up to someone at their desk in the middle of a work day is not the way to do it. At all.

And if a woman did this to a guy, he should also report it to HR.
