Girl, I have no help other than to say.... preach!! I live in the South as well and men are just absolutely enamored with blondes. She could have a knot on a log personality, but they will fall over themselves to talk to her. Different strokes for different folks. Ironically, I don't care for blonde men. The only thing I have learned is to keep your hair long and styled.... That does help a lot.

I live in a major city in the south and while I am blonde, the high quality men around me are married to women with an array of (natural) hair colors. You need to have whatever color hair flatters you and skin tone, blonde looks really really bad on people who’s tones don’t naturally lean that way. I’ve always been blonde, no trouble getting attention, but I actually dyed my hair dark brunette for a year, and that’s when I met my husband. I ended up dying it back to my natural light blonde because the brown was too much upkeep (blonde roots and dark hair are NOT flattering), my husband loves my hair both colors, so it sounds like you’re just surrounded by fairly immature men

I absolutely agree! I’m blonde myself, and since moving to the South I have been shocked by how many preppy men approach me, even back when I was easily the least put-together of my friends. I’m not sure I have any advice to give, but you have my support, OP!

I don’t have anything to add to what others have said but speaking from up North (Canada) this is crazy to me... I’ve never been to the southern US so it seems sort of foreign, like a whole other culture! I have to say I personally kind of dislike the look of fake looking dyed blonde hair. Keep rocking your natural!

One thing you may notice in the south is, unless it's a high society function like a formal function, people don't dress up as much. It's considered showing off.

Not just southern men. Most men. Not even just in western society. Blonde women are advised to dye their hair dark brown before travelling to india or the middle east because of the overwhelming (frankly dangerous) amount of male attention blonde hair will get.

But yeah I also can't count the number of times I've known a girl to go blonde and suddenly have lots and lots of guys whispering amongst themselves how they never noticed how hot "X" was before.

Those nerdy and alternative guys are kind of actively rebelling against their impulses, or perhaps conscious of societal influence and rejecting it (because I don't believe blondes are literally more attractive, it's obviously some kind of illusion brainwashed into us).

Funny thing is it kind of works the reverse for guys. As a dumb teenager I dyed my hair from a lightish blondey brown to black and I swear to god I went from a 7 to a 9 overnight, with girls suddenly aggressively pursuing me. I don't think this would work quite so well on adult women who have much more complicated standards, but just on looks I think dark hair on males gets female attention more so than light.

TBH it's a rare guy who will notice how sophisticated your dressing is. Certainly rare for a straight guy. I'm a rare straight guy that has a bit of an appreciation for women's fashion but I fully accept it is a very gay part of me and it's exceedingly rare to run into a fellow guy who notices such things. It MIGHT help with making a guy feel prouder to introduce you to his family or something, but it won't get his attention. Sexy is what will get a guy's attention, whether he's sophisticated or not.

And yeah, sadly blonde hair works a treat also. edit to add- especially on the more image conscious "classy" guys. Guys who care about how they are seen and how they look are all the more likely to go with the traditional idea of what is supposed to be attractive. Rather than just following their primal urges.

Remember that this is not TRP, and you are not a man... you are not playing the numbers game and trying to "conquer loads of pussy".

You want to be attractive, not to all men, but to one single example of the type of man you personally like, ideally the one you most prefer.

So when you say

Men are not malleable. What you see is what you get. If cowboys like country girls, and you want to wear heels and discuss the wine you're drinking as if it were a person, then stop hitting on cowboys and move to New York City or wherever else it is that pretentious people hang out.

Anyways, Im assuming you mean preppy/UMC/ white men who are Southern but "modern" with good jobs aged 25-39? Not my target demo really but you have to really hone in that modern Southern wardrobe look and basically hang out strictly where those types are. You have to dress like the "Kendra Scott" crowd for lack of better term. I would not recommend dying your hair tho, sounds like that color is working for you.

Also ignore anyone who is poo-pooing your preferences. This is Reddit so the nerd circle-jerk is strong (I agree with you, they can keep it, Im good lol).

TX here. Here's a personal secret: I like to look at blondes, but I date brunettes. Many men are like this. Why? Because there are certain traits associated with each. Blondes are held as prettier. They're also held as shallower, not too bright, and easy.

Exactly. Men, not boys, want to date a quality woman. A RPW. Show that you're a quality RPW and you've got it made. And your hair color has almost nothing to do with that. Deportment, wardrobe, attitude... those are what will get you attention. Blonde hair - which any woman can fake with a bottle - is virtually meaningless.

EDIT: Also, mind that in TX there are a LOT of Hispanics. Black/brown hair is the overwhelming majority. So blonde (and red) stand out a LOT. But you know what else stands out in a crowd of average sheeple women? RPW traits.

Are you looking for a long term partner or a quantity of short term matches? If the latter, fake blonde is an advantage, but will probably work against the first option. I’m from Texas (so is my dad’s side going back 5-6 generations). I’ve got light brown hair with natural reddish highlights so I get a lot of compliments on my hair. I studied abroad in London during college and I pulled like crazy over there! I just thought men were more forward... Not to sound conceited but I’m rather attractive (I’m both tall and thin with curves— and I’ve got a fairly symmetrical face) so I just thought men were more forward over there.

Happily married to a southern gentleman now — who also favored blondes before me...

My mom and sister are both naturally blonde. My sister always got a lot more attention from guys back in high school than I did. I had always thought guys just like her more because she is short.
