Reminds me of a new Netflix show on my list about aunties playing matchmaker. Think I might make a drinking game out of it!

I was married, unhappily for many years. I told my ex husband...I would rather live in a tent then be with you in this house. He always talked about how we had it so good....a nice house, 2 cars.....I didn't care about that. My ex wouldn't talk to me for days if I called into work sick, he would ignore me if I didn't clean the house, he would threaten me all the time. What kind of life is that. I have been free from him 13 years!!!! I don't live in a tent but I am super happy to not have him around. It's better to be alone than lonely with someone!!!

Divorced is infinity times better than married and miserable though. Been there, done that. Here is to hoping I’ll never ever do it again! 🙌🏻

Oh for sure!! I think the meme is more about never marrying a LVM. Cheers to you and your happy divorce 🥂

Yes, here’s to never doing that again sis lol 🥂

Congrats on your divorce! You’re a strong woman for following through, so many don’t and just remain unhappily married.

Congratulations! Divorcing from mediocrity sounds infinitely better than staying married to it.

Don't want to get trapped with someone I don't like for 1-70 years

Yep, my neighbour just died leaving his wife alone after their marriage of 50+ years. Never heard either of them laugh before and we’ve lived next to them for 30 years. In the couple weeks since he died, we heard her laugh 3 times lol. Word on the street is she despised him, and all his stuff has gone straight in the trash 🤷🏼♀️

I'm in my 40's and happily single my mother tells me my standards are too high, she got married 3 times. The last one totally messed up her life. She sacrificed, lived in a cheap apartment for 2 years in a bad neighborhood just so she could save up to buy a home. Then she married an LVM he didn't file his taxes for years, she lost her house and was living in a RV with him for years until he died. Now she lives with my grandma and takes care of her. She's in her 60's and in therapy because after all that she said she didn't even know herself anymore. My grandma married an abuse LVM that killed himself. I look at their lives and think, so much wasted because they made men the center of their world. They believed what society told them "you're nothing without a man". Forget that, I'm happy to keep my standards high. I don't want to settle just to be a married woman. I have a small business that is my #1 priority, I have goals for myself. My 2nd priority is working on my own mental health so I can live on a higher level of consciousness and I practice mindfulness. My 3rd priority is the relationships I have with my friends and family. If a good man comes along that's a bonus but not a priority. There really aren't a lot of quality men out there and that's the truth. I will not lower my standards if enough women did the same thing they would have to become better but so many women will accept less than their worth. If I stay single so be it, I will have lived my dreams and accomplished more for myself and that's awesome.

I'm about half your age and you are where I want to be in the future.

I wasn't always like this I made mistakes with men, most of them were in my 20s. I decided to make changes in my 30s it's taken a lot of work in personal growth but it's so worth it. You can do it, focus on your dreams, your talents and the best things about yourself. The journey of personal growth never ends and it's so rewarding. I am taking a break right now writing this but right now I am working on new product while listening to a podcast about creating pintest boards for marketing. Personal growth isn't just about mental health it's also important to educate yourself. The more you know the more you grow. You can do it, I believe in you!

There is no shame in knowing your worth and finding your equal. Don't let others shame you into settling for someone mediocre.

I’d rather be alone, free and happy than attached to an idiot who might as well be listed as a child than a husband.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I say wait until atleast 30 to consider getting married. I’ve been a teacher for 13 years and I’m at the point where I see former students of mine getting engaged at 23 and posting it all over social media like they won some prize before everyone else. I want to shake them and be like “go live your life! You are barely formed as an adult yet and your entire outlook may change 5 years from now!!”
As girls we need to stop putting getting engaged and married on this pedestal of achievement. Just because you are engaged does not mean the work stops and your automatically happy and just because you are single does not mean you are miserable! Once we learn that I think far less women will be settling a for losers just so they can wave the magic banner of “someone picked ME”.
And as a side note, I’ve been dating a great guy for almost 3 years and we both look at each other and go “thank god we didn’t marry the person we thought we were going to marry in our 20s”. I look back at that dude and go what was I thinking? My bf now is smart and passionate and raised to be a gentleman. He holds the door and meets me at the car after grocery shopping to help bring everything inside and tells me to relax while he puts it away. The other dude...He’s not a go getter, accomplished in anyway, and he wasn’t even good to me. Age also hit him in the face with shovel so I consider myself lucky that I dodged that bullet.

Oh I totally agree. I’m about the same age as those former students you mentioned & I cannot believe anyone I went to high school with is engaged, married, or having kids. There’s also this weird superiority complex a lot of them have formed for settling down early.
We have our entire 20s to have fun, get to know ourselves, etc. Why would I want to waste those years taking care of a man?
I’m so glad you mentioned that you found someone now, it gives me hope for the future!

Dying alone because you're alone is a million times better than sacrificing your entire life for a man who'll let you die alone while he's out there banging younger chicks.

I think I would appreciate this meme a bit more if it said "unhappy" rather than divorced. Being divorced is not a status any more than being broken up with is. You're single. And it is better to be single than with a person who is making you unhappy.

I find it extremely sad that there is such a stigma attached to the idea of being alone.

Married for one year separated for 3 because it took that long to get a divorce. Think about really hard! I think he low-key hated me because he served me raw chicken one time 😂
