I wonder if any of you have read the book by Nedra Glover Tawwab? I have just started it and Nedra states that you can’t expect people to read your mind, so the only way to set a boundary that is clear, is verbally, and then provide action to back it up.

My question to you guys is- What about if it’s something so obvious that it makes you feel stupid for even having to say it?

Like, for example; “please don’t ghost me for over a day, and then wait for me to text you It makes me feel unvalued and insecure about myself If it continues to happen I won’t reach out anymore”

All the principles of this sub seem to be the opposite of this approach from what I’ve seen (which isn’t much, I’m new here!) I also haven’t finished the book either so I can’t be sure if it’s covered later but nonetheless..

I feel like from what I’ve seen, the FDS would be to say “hi, I’m not seeing you anymore”

Because I mean that example given is such a small thing, if they can’t do that naturally I feel it’s a red flag? Whether they aren’t interested enough or are too busy or want to see me squirm, it’s not okay.

I have hundreds more of these micro boundaries and I wonder if transparency is key and to put it all out there, or whether to stop wasting my breath on the wrong guy?

It goes without saying that he doesn’t pay for dates and other stuff like that.

I’m just wondering if I should ask for the things I want/need and make it clear, or just drop him basically? I feel like I can talk until I’m blue in the face about my wants / needs but after a certain point aren’t they just basic human decency?

I want to respect other people’s boundaries and don’t want to be needy or entitled to their time or energy. It’s not any romantic partner of mines’ job to keep me happy or feeling secure, (that’s internal), and that would be a self centred and unrealistic expectation to hold. But also it’s exhausting to have to ask for every little thing.

I just want to know where these two worlds can meet?

Please help, thanks in advance lxdies 🙏🏻
