I’ve been here for quite a while, but one thing that stuck with me is just how many women have been sexually harassed, abused (physical, mental, sexual), intimidated and harmed by men.

I used to think it was one of those rare things like the murderers I’d read about in true crime. But no.

According to RAINNone in every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime.

And I’ve never been a victim, but it’s made me more cautious than ever before. Because quite often it’s too little too late.

I’ve found myself checking locks before bed, checking to see if anyone is following me, noticing when I’m vulnerable. And even what parts of my life make me vulnerable to an abusive relationship.

There are also some men in my life that just give me... off vibes. Which means that I’ll want to avoid them or be cautious. But pickmes in my life will try to rationalise and guilt me into going against my intuition.

Women grow up with a symphony of “not all men!” Excuses, and justifications. No matter what the case is, I find this is pretty broad.

We’re more often than not taught to doubt ourselves, and give the benefit of the doubt to men. And to doubt other women.

It must be so difficult for a survivor to come out and tell their story. Even more so when the whole world is doubting them.

I don’t give a shit about due process anymore. And I hate people who make rape political and play devils advocate.

False accusations are rare as fuck first of all at about 0.5%. This is compared to the estimated 95% of rapes that go unreported.

And I’d rather give sympathy to a false accuser than alienate a survivor.
