I always struggled to eloquently describe how I felt about sex work, even when it's done by the more privileged sugar babies or escorts. This hits the nail on the head.

Of course men know it's unwanted sex, otherwise they won't pay for it.

Men get wildly agitated when we talk about our standards or expecting HV dates. Especially because they think that the women at FDS don't 'deserve it'. They try to lower the standards and expectations of women everywhere. Ridicule us for expecting men to pay for the first date, be generous with the women they intend to marry and grow old with. Exclaiming 'golddigger' or 'high maintenance' at the first sight of a HVW.

But they never complain about paying for sex with a sex worker. Even when it comes to cam girls or OnlyFans or other weird stuff like used panties. Why is that? Might it be that they know the women would never consent to it if they didn't pay?

It shows that men around the world damn well know that sex work ≠ consent.

It also shows the sheer entitlement of the men that try to lower our expectations and standards because they feel better than us and entitled to our bodies.

Nothing but facts here.

Money is the compensation for unwanted sex, and when you have been compensated for unwanted sex you have no right to complain.

This is why it’s important to remember all sex work is non-consensual. Even women who aren’t sex trafficked are being r*ped. It’s not the women who are the problem, it’s the men who create the demand for sex work and the people who normalize it that are the problem.

I remember reading that, even where sex work is legal, trafficking still occurs.

It’s because these particular customers prefer if the woman is not consenting. They prefer to force themselves on someone who is unwilling.

Strongly agree with all of this, but want to add watching porn as well. They’re imagining having sex with women who they know would NEVER say yes to them, so on some level they’re fantasizing about rape.

I think the third point she makes is very astute. We tend to keep women in working poverty and demean many “women-based” jobs by giving them lower pay ie. child-rearing, cleaning, cooking. And also when women get high-skilled jobs meant for men, they still make significantly less than men.

Keeping women poor ensures that men can commodify them for sex when needed.
