I'm watching my nonbinary male friend go though this right now. He said there was no point in reporting it, especially since it was his exgirlfriend. He said he just wants to move on with his career. Men can get raped. Nonbinary men can get raped.

I just want to point out, in case you weren't aware, this comic makes it seem like being non-binary and autistic make you more qualified to experience sexual trauma. I don't think that's what you meant, but that's kind of how it comes off to me.

You can be raped. No matter how you identify, you deserve to have your pain recognized and dealt with.

That said, I noticed your reply to another poster about the trans subculture, and since you're aware of that cultural issue, you may also be aware of the broader victimhood culture we have been giving rise to. I think many people give an unhealthy amount of their mental capacity to focusing on certain traumatizing events. Don't get me wrong, some people are genuinely traumatized by these events, and need help overcoming them. But we also have a culture that reinforces the life-changing nature of sexual assault, when in reality most people who experience an isolated sexual assault just move on as if nothing happened.

We've been taught that this behavior is unhealthy, because it buries a seed of trauma that will come back to haunt us at some point. While that is sometimes the case, many people simply are able to move forward because they don't place any more value on that event than having a bike get stolen. It's simply an unfortunate occurence that happened to them one time.

As a former therapist, I highly recommend any person who has experienced emotional trauma to continually ask themselves "is what I experienced really that bad? Was it so bad that it deserves to take up as much space in my head as it does?" The world is an extremely harsh place, and humans have evolved to be extremely resilient as a result. Think about the horrors your ancestors faced every day and still survived and thrived, and then use that to help inform how you internalize your own negative experiences today. It won't work for everyone, but it may help you.

Tough world we live. Right now theres a situation where a streamers ex is claiming sexual assault now some people are calling him a rapist when he hasn’t posted his side of the story. At least two people stated, we shouldn’t even pick a side bc we don’t have both sides of the story but another female streamer said F*ck you and called them a rapist apologist instead.
