I fully agree. I think a lot of men who weren’t interested in men’s rights are now becoming annoyed by the nagging media talking about women how they are both victims and strong at the same time.

It’s utterly disgusting to see how it’s only women that seemly matter now. Forget all the achievements that men have made, “what have you done for me lately?” Comes to mind.

Interestingly enough, I made a comment about this in another sub, and then heard this podcast with Joe Rogan and Sargon of Akkad mention it; feminism relies on women being oppressed to gain legitimacy, so they try their best to force a narrative that shows women being oppressed.

If they admit that women have it just as good as men, they lose all power. They absolutely have to maintain that women are being oppressed and that men are doing the oppressing.

There's also the way that issues that should affect all are framed as women's issues - for example the contention that jail should be used less, e.g. only for violent and recidivist offenders. This has been doing the rounds for a while but at the moment seems to be just 'how to keep women out of prison' rather than 'imprison far fewer people'.

As a woman, I just don't get it. These broads say things like "inequality!!!!" And bitch about pay gaps (earnings gap), and pink tax (because they don't understand that women want and need products for their bodies specifically, and that raises costs), and the whole time, since I graduated high School back in 2012, I'm just looking around going "not only can I not relate, I don't even want to try to make friends anymore. When cat calling was the big thing I couldn't relate. When they claimed guys mansplain everything I felt confused. When they said all men have privilege and are toxic I was angry. When they said men and women are the same, but they aren't, and still need special treatment I was again confused, and when they said a man in women's clothes was a woman I felt fucking insulted. It has just gone from bad to flipping insane. My first clue was that feminists could never agree on a consistent agenda/talking points, the last few years has shown so much hostile infighting. I feel very isolated, and yes my God is it ever so tiresome. I feel the need to holler that not all of us are batshit insane...

I’m going to give you an analogy...

When I was a kid, I learned to ride a bike using training wheels. When I was ready for them to come off, I didn’t realize it, and was terrified to agree to my parents to removing them. They convinced me it would be ok, they’d help me... rode off no problem, the training wheels, in fact were torn up and not really even functioning. But I knew only that they needed to be there. I needed the small assistance and reassurance. Only I didn’t. I learned to rely on them, well past when I actually needed them, and was very adamant they shouldn’t be removed. But training wheels limit your ability to ride a bike, you cannot learn to corner properly, as well as a bunch of other factors that cause kids to have to sort of “re-learn” to ride a bike.
Now, common thoughts within the bike community is to never use or mention training wheels. Use a push bike when they are little, and they learn far more quickly, and graduate to pedals much earlier. Turns out kids have the coordination to balance before they can pedal...

Now, the analogy here is that this is a whole lot like the message this sends to young women. They need the added support of training wheels on every aspect of life. They cannot navigate an “oppressive” world without assistance. They are well past needing the cultural training wheels of feminism removed, but they cannot see how it limits the young women to buy in so fully. Feminism infantalizes women and pretends they need this patronizing cultural attitude as though they cannot be successful and self reliant unless society retains the training wheels... they refuse to remove them. And unlike me, there is no “adult” standing by to make the better decision for them. When women graduate high school and college at higher rates and we still want grunts to do the grunt work, and we have a society which thinks women aren’t equal, they are better! But also need society to be easy on them.... there is a lot of mental dissonance around this, and many other things in American culture. Old misinformation is giving way to new misinformation. Opinions are now called “your truth” and language is constantly shifted in an attempt to remove words from your vocabulary to refute bad ideas and methodology. Welcome to being aware of actual truths in the current year. Enjoy.

The worst thing for me personally is my treatment of women now. I don't mean I treat them badly or anything. But for example in the past, I'd keep a door open for a girl, open the car door or help if I see one struggling carrying something heavy. Now, I find myself not doing those things because I wouldn't normally do most of those things for another guy so why should I do it for a woman because that's what they wanted right? But later I feel guilty because maybe that person wasn't one of those feminists.

One of the things that I think we need to demand from the media is to stop focusing exclusively on the areas where men outperform women (average income, success in STEM fields) and start focusing also on the areas where men have it worse than women.

In the United States, men are more than 10 times as likely as women to end up in prison. Men are something like 20 times as likely as women to be shot by police officers. Men commit suicide at around 3 times the rate of women. Men are more likely than women to be homeless. More boys than girls drop out of high school. More boys than girls end up in the foster system. Those are just a few examples off the top of my head.

If our society is going to demand equality in the areas where women have fallen behind, we also need to demand equality in the areas where men have fallen behind.

I'm reading Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow by Yuval Noah Harari. At times it's pretty good, even excellent. One of his main points is that people are superior to any other animals because we can create and share narratives. They don't have to be based on facts as long as we believe in them and they let us aim at common goals.

I've been thinking for a long time that the "feminist narrative" exists, not because it's true heh, no sane people think that the feminist narrative is true. But, and I'm speculating now, it could be - or it happened to be - one of the narratives that helped the west out of the pre-modern shit hole when everybody lived like the people now live in the worst shit holes.

Just an idea.

The tragic think is that the same narrative is now pushing us towards a different shit hole because it makes us concentrate on the better-off gender while the boys are falling more and more behind every year.

It’s all about ratings, money, and politics. If they talk about men’s issues they (think they will) lose ratings. Less ratings equals less money. And politicians only care about getting/keeping their jobs, so until men have huge advocacy groups screaming bloody murder about everything, nothing will change.

We’re in a death spiral. Normal/logical/reasonable people are being forced to choose extremists sides. You’re either a gun loving, flat earth believing, pro life dummy, or you’re an extreme libtard getting offended by the patriarchy every 3 seconds and screaming about women’s rights relentlessly. It seems there’s not much room for moderates anymore.

It really pisses me off considering women got rights in 1920 and the last residential school closed in 1996 which was only 22 years ago and man the shit that went down in residential school were much worse than what happened to women. did little girls get taken from there family never to be seen again? Was in my car the other day and a radio ad for Eastern Bank came on. “Join together” by The Who is playing while what sounds like Whoopi Goldberg declares “for every woman who has persisted...” lol. Those news outlets are probably mainly watched by women, so it makes sense that all they talk about is women. Men are too busy actually doing things of importance to be overly concerned about less successful men.

I'm totally talking out of my ass here, but I just picture that as why there are so many middle class women who have time to bitch about the world; the men are out earning a living and paying into social security so women can work part time and have no real ambition.

God, don't get me started on this topic. There's a handful of academics and politicians in every western nation that categorically insist that the existing criminal justice system is 'male centric' and 'male modeled' and doesn't work for women. Of course, their solution is to make a second tier that's considerably less stringent on female prisoners, as a result.

I can't read those essays and articles without foaming, because literally everything they cite as a rationale for their second tier of female-only justice is ALSO present in male prisoners ... but they plain and simply don't give a fuck. They care that Mom will be away from her munchkins, and so want to move her closer, but they don't give a fuck where Dad serves his sentence. They care that Ms. Prisoner has a drug and alcohol problem, or a mental illness, but they don't give a fuck that all of those issues are endemic in the male prison population, too. Every essay on this topic might as well have a gifuckingnormous neon sign at the top warning people of the ridiculously myopic views within.

Hi! Female here. Also a Sanders supporter and NPR listener.

What keeps me going is talking to my kids about the (many) true things the media shares with us along with the (many) bullshit spins they put on the information they are sharing. I'm old enough to remember Fox News starting this ideological infotainment schtick, and it made big $$$, and now it's the norm across the political spectrum. It's a weird time to be alive. But a minivan full of kids who reflexively say "who gives a fuck?" when the percentage of women in STEM is discussed gives me hope that the pendulum will shift. My middle schooler, in particular, is very tired of hearing how oppressed she is. There's nothing in her reality to pin it to.

The ironic thing is they tend to have all of the freedoms men do with hardly any of the responsibilities or consequences for their actions. THAT'S the message they are deciding to push with this advantage? Did you people learn nothing from Trump V. Hillary? All you had to do was pick a stable person, without much baggage, and you are a shoe in. You're gonna throw another lady at him? Nothing against women, but this man is a god damn bulldog and if you have any emotional weakness, man woman or alien, he will ruthlessly blow it up until you look weak. Hell he even does this to men. No offense, but men and women are different animals with different strengths. I am 100% for women in office, I will even vote that way - but this is a terrible, terrible business decision, and they are playing a dangerous game. The country has shown that it is not ready & that it is still very very regressive. I mean, I want the same thing, we just need to be a little patient, play it easy, let the GOP implode, and not feed the trolls. What we need is a high-power monster hunter right now, and as shitty as it sounds, that amount of muscle on a woman is just going to alienate THE ENTIRE male population which has not specifically gone through the process of unlearning traditional gender roles.
