Well, you got me.
I am not man enough to vote for a woman.
Or whatever Hillary is.
But nice try with that whole "shaming tactics" bit. Really well done, trying to frame my manhood in such a way as to use it for your own political gain.
[–]zen_affleck 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If I admit I'm not man enough, does that mean I am a woman?
[–]anonymitygone 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And then don't you have to vote for her because you're a woman?
[–]zen_affleck 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Now it makes sense.
[–]Dann01 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Is there anyone woman enough to vote for a man?

Haha that advert alone is reason enough not to vote for Hilary
[–]not_AtWorkRightNow 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have to imagine that ad is actually geared towards women just like the whole rest of the campaign. I can't imagine anyone actually thinking that will work.
Although, at this point, men have had to shut up and cheer for anything that a woman says, I think a lot of women are just starting to think that they can say anything to men and we will buy it. Unfortunately for them, voting is anonymous.
[–]redditorriot 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I imagine it will have the desired affect on many men, as well as having the opposite effect on many men.
[–]WaitingToBeBanned 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The latter group would probably not vote for her anyway, and is therefore irrelevant in this context.
[–]raja47 45 points46 points47 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
How dumb do they think we are?
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There's a lot of people who basically would lap that stuff up so... >_>

Are they dumb enough to realize how dumb they are - or do we see yet more evidence of Dunning-Kruger?
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which relatively unskilled persons suffer illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability to be much higher than it really is. People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains. The authors suggest that this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
hey man, don't you want to be perceived as this cool, hipster, retro, hip, cool, bearded, hip, 'with it' guy?
Very, and they are right.
[–]Kuato2012 39 points40 points41 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Whenever somebody plays the "are you man enough" card, they're trying to use shame to manipulate your behavior. Usually pitting you against your own interests, too.
[–]McFeely_Smackup 31 points32 points33 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm "man enough" to not fall for manipulation by challenging my manhood over political issues.
I'm mature enough that the sex of a candidate doesn't factor into my vote consideration in the slightest.
You are, completely coincidentally, not who Hillary Clinton is targeting.

Yes, I am man enough to vote for a woman, I've done that every election we've had here in Denmark since I was old enough to vote. I don't dislike Hillary as a presidential candidate in the US because of her gender.
Also, couldn't resist: http://imgur.com/8VAlUYG

A real man doesn't prove his masculinity.
[–]civilsaint 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This guy doesn't look manly. He uses that beard to overcompensate for his tight rolled skinny jeans and perfectly coiffed hair.
Stop questioning my manhood, Hillary, and I'll stop questioning yours.

I voted wildrose alliance in both the 2012 and 2015 general election. During both those elections. Danielle Smith was leader of the party. I voted for her because of her politics, not her gender.
[–]omegaphallic 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I voted NDP federally when it was lead by Alexa McDoughna, and then later in the provinicially for Andrea Horwath leader of the ONDP, and while I don't live in Alberta I was thrilled by the Rachel Notley win, who I view as the best Premier that Canada has had in several generations (but the oil sectored is screwed, so she needs a miracle to save Alberta).

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Me too, I'd followed him all the time for years and cried when he died.
I won't pretend he was an MRA, but he was still a very good man, and the NDP Federally would be the government instead of Prime Minister Zoolander and his merry band of liers.

No I'm man enough to vote for a political parties stances as represented by their current representative.
Oh, you mean am I man enough to vote for Hillary? FUCK NO, no one should be voting for her & that has nothing to do with being a man, she's a well documented liar, who political platform has flip flopped more than the entire population of Australia wearing flip flops.
[–]TheDude41 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Loads of men voted for Margaret Thatcher, and I can't imagine British men are that different to American men, so presumably the answer is 'yes'.
I think Hillary Clinton might be a different issue though...

Bearnie or bust.
The implication that I'm not man enough to vote for an entitled, failed their way to the top podium digger angers me.

Hashtag HeForShe
Imagine if Trump released a "I'm feminine enough to vote for Trump" poster, with a stereotypical picture of femininity as the model (blonde hair, blue eyes, cute face, big tits - a human barbie doll). All hell would break loose.

[–]rg57 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have voted for women... but they weren't women stupid enough to make their logo EXACTLY what happened on 9/11 in NYC, and then put a red heart around it just so we can recall what the explosions looked like.
I am SO glad I'm not a US voter. The choices are all repugnant.

[–]chavelah 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. I'm not going to vote for either of them, but I cannot condemn the voter in a swing state who decides that Hillary is the slightly lesser evil. It's like that South Park episode where the kids have to choose between Turd Sandwich and Giant Douche.
[–]yummyluckycharms -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I dont get this campaign....
The tag line is are you man enough - then they put an effeminate man on the poster. If you are going to pick a hipster douche as a spokesperson, at least make sure that the guy lifts and doesnt look like a homeless person.
[–]ShitXChromosomes 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know right? I can see the dialogue on the marketing board.
Alright gang, we need to put a manly man on the poster. He has to look somewhat manly, but in a sterile, non intimidating way accessible to women How about this guy with a long beard? Beards are masculine, right? So this guy with a huge beard is probably a masculine ideal or something. Excellent!
