Yes, do not get into a relationship until you heal. I'm going through a divorce currently separated. I have primary custody of the kids and being the single dad. I caught feelings for someone and she got sick and tired of my drama. I don't blame her for it but it just adds insults to injury and now I'm fucking super depressed. We had a great time together for a few months and honestly it really healed me in the beginning but reality came around and now I think it's over. Whatever

Let me add on here…. It is ok to be single for the rest of your life…. You made a commitment to your children. Focus on your on wellbeing as it will only help you put your mind in a good place. Confidence is a thing that women can smell. Love comes when you least expect it or when you aren’t even looking for it. Focus on being the good father and take them to places that their mother can’t afford to take them to. When they get older, they will know who the responsible parent is. I’m going through divorce and legal custody battle myself. If you feel that your mind is not in a good place, google or YouTube Mindfulness Meditation. This has helped me stay in the present. I have not seen my son in two months now. My STBX put a restraining order against me on false allegations of domestic violence and assault. I work a job that requires a clearance. Why would I do stupid shit like that? I’ve actually been a victim of domestic violence myself from a previous relationship where ex was an alcoholic. My STBX put my job in jeopardy which puts my son’s child support and his health benefits in jeopardy as he is autistic and needs the best therapy I can provide. Women are vindictive and that’s what makes them stupid. Hopefully the judge will take it into consideration. Just know that there is always a double standard in the legal system against men. They always believe the women. I’ve served in the Marines for 8 years and currently work at my clearance job for 13. My career is about to dump because of her garbage allegations. I have not even had my say in court yet. I miss my son. I will fight for him to get 50/50 custody because it is only fair. A child should have both parents in their lives. Good luck.

Too many guys listen too much to their second brain. They’re a prisoner to its wants and desires. I would never listen to anything telling me to move away from my kids.

It is amazing how emotions can destroy your entire ability to think logically. Women’s emotions are far stronger so when you think about it, the insane stories you hear about on the sub make perfect sense.

You shouldn't have a relationship with a cupcake but I dont know if dating is that terrible. A new kitty now and then can speed the recovery. Not saying this helps everyone but I think it helped me.

One thing though, if another woman suggests hey come with me 300 miles+ away from your kid I don't take her seriously. And eventually I'll tell her this.

I’m in the midst of a divorce and fighting for at least 50-50 custody of my 2 daughters myself. Your buddy is either an idiot or needs to be committed. It would take every branch of the military to drag me away from these kids if I know I keep at least 50-50 custody. Kids come first, always and forever

His ex is a lost cause by doing the same.

It’s funny though, I told a buddy of mine my prediction is my ex moves in with her boyfriend, that she’s been with since a week after she moved out last July and less than 2 months after we separated, by the end of this summer and engaged by the end of the year.

If that actually happens, I think my brain will explode trying to make sense of it all as there will be no neural pathway that leads to a logical explanation.

Welp, young kids are actually easier. You just shouldn’t move 400 miles away. That’s actually pretty odd behavior.

Teenagers are a different story. I would just straight up never move in with someone ever if your kids are over 13. Teens are hard enough to manage while you’re married or not trying to move some new person in.

I can tell you that there is a very slim chance I will ever get married again and absolutely no chance in hell I would move away from my children.
