About 3 months ago, my wife asked me for a divorce. We agreed to separate instead, living together for about another month until I found my own (temporary) place.

Things had been going well between us: we spoke pretty much daily, saw each other once/twice per week, and went on some really nice dates together - including yesterday.

My contract is up in a month and we've been talking for a while about actually sitting down and talking things through. Today we tried to do that while walking the dog, and it was an absolute car crash. Tense from minute one, when she started off with "our friendship is nice, but I just don't feel like I can be myself in this relationship".

It further escalated over the next hour or so, with an increasingly tense and hurtful conversation. It's been the first time that I just felt like she's repulsed by the sheer existence of me.

Part of me is not ready to let go, part of me feels like I've just been holding on to hope for nothing.

Has anyone been in this situation? How the hell do you bring it to some kind of resolve?
