For y'all reading I'm going to put it all in bullets so its easier to understand.

  • I'm 31 yo guy and divorced in 2021 after a very brief (lasted few months only) marriage. My partner was psychologically and towards the end of it even beginning to get physically abusive towards herself and me as well so obv couldn't keep that going.

  • Anyway, about a year later I met somebody at work and we became friends. About 2 months into it and we'd both realized we have this amazing understanding and are just SO similar.

  • She was the first to confess and obv I liked her too. However, the only thing that was bugging me was my divorce and just wanted to be honest with her.

  • A few days after her confessing I met her and told her that I was married before and am divorced and that I know its hard to hear this but just wanted to be honest even it ends right here.

  • She went away quietly but a few hours later replied that the past doesn't bother her and she's happy as long as we understand each other.

  • We have been dating since then and its amazing. However, she has discussed it with one of her friends and two of her siblings and they all have somehow opposed the idea because they all believe she deserves someone who isn't married before.

  • Obviously we want to get married and live together, but my question is should we keep this up considering the society that we live in? Also feel free to leave msgs for her too if you'd like to tell her that its her life and she is the one who gets to decide everything and why.

  • Its so disappointing that a wrong marriage can hamper your chances of marrying someone you actually love. Looking forward to your responses.
