My ex didn’t go back to her maiden name, and I found it extremely odd. Then I thought one day that she could herself mickey mouse for all I care and never thought about it again.

As far as I know my ex hasn't changed it. Honestly, I don't even like the name but it bugs me that she still uses it. She's not a part of my shitty family anymore, go back to her own.

My exwife kept my last name after the divorce, because it was the same as the kids. 50/50 custody.

One year later, she got remarried and took his last name.

Three months after that, she told me she wanted to change the kids' last names to her new last name. I told her, "I'll fight you on this, I'm not some dead beat dad." And the kids didn't want to change their name. So she dropped it.

Three months after that, her new husband left her and filed for divorce. She ended up keeping his last name.

I think it's shitty either way. I don't want her to have my good name but it's a thumb in the eye to see her go back to her maiden name.

She hasn’t changed her name on a lot of stuff, her voice mail is still her stating my name. Our divorce papers clearly say her maiden name is restored. Last time I saw her she was still wearing her wedding ring.

I just let it be. I love our son more than I hate her. The divorce is finalized, she’s not coming between me and our son, nor do her and I have any sort of relationship or communication with each other. We do not follow each other on any social media platforms either so it’s not that big of a deal for me to be on her ass about.

you may not care and seems like most posters on here do not care.

However if you get involved with a woman after your divorce and the marriage talk comes up she is not going to take it well that your EX WIFE has your last name!!! it could possibly be a dealbreaker. they would go over to ex wife house house and make her change it, and if ex wife does not comply it could possibly turn physical between the GF and ex wife. that would be fun to watch

My ex-wife kept my last name for awhile, then decided to change it back to her maiden name. Eh, whatever. We're not together any more so I don't really care.

You know that’s not very uncommon for the ex-wife to keep the last name especially if you’ve been together a long time it’s a lot easier for her just to keep it instead of switching everything around her ID cards banking stuff. Everything Hass to change if she wants to keep the last name that’s fine. Her kids have the same last name too. I get it.

My EX wife kept my last name. We had a childcare together and the business uses the name. So whatever, if she gets remarried, let them figure it out.

I’m a woman divorcing another woman. She left me in the most painful way possible, ran a full fledged smear campaign against me, brought false allegations of abuse against me to gain the upper hand during litigation, and she’s already dating someone new before the divorce is finalized. Nevertheless… I’m keeping her last name for a few reasons:

1) It would be a major hassle to change my name back to my maiden name. Not only would I need to update my drivers license, passport, social security card, etc., but I would also need to update my work email which is a huge pain from an IT standpoint (I work remotely and we use 2FA SSO that’s connected to our work email).

2) I didn’t really like my maiden name. It was long and always mispronounced. My married name is simple.

3) Within 48 hours of leaving, my ex hacked my Facebook account, deleted all of our photos, changed my status from married to single, and changed my Facebook name back to my maiden name. I hadn’t had a chance to tell anyone that we were separating, let alone come to terms with it myself, so it was very humiliating.

The fact of the matter is: it’s my name. If I want to keep it, that’s my decision. She doesn’t control me anymore.

As for your wife, she’s likely keeping the last name so she has the same last name as your children. But even if you two didn’t have children, it’s her choice to make. I know it hurts… but try not to let it get to you. Sometimes it’s best just to let it go ❤️

My ex is keeping my name, but she just said it's because it was such a pain to change. She's engaged to another guy, and I bet she'll change it once they get married. (It's not even two years since she cheated and left in July 2022, and it's not the same guy she had an affair with)

It doesn't bother me at all, my last name is super common (hers is too, fwiw).

Female here. I'm keeping my soon to be ex husband's. I don't care what he thinks. It took me SO LONG to change my name, accounts, etc. That I'm honestly never doing that. Especially since I'm now raising our 6 kids alone.
