Don't even mention the word "divorce" to her until she's served the petition by a process server. Otherwise she could start dissipating assets, running up joint credit, and/or falsely claim domestic violence to get you removed from the home. Don't move out. Move all important documents, keepsakes etc off premises. Move all firearms off premises. Change your salary direct deposit to an account that only you have access to at a different bank from any joint accounts that you hold with her. Transfer half of the amounts in joint accounts to this sole ownership account. Cancel any joint credit cards you have and limit her access to credit as much as you can. Cancel any subscriptions/services that you don't want to be paying during the divorce. Do all of these things BEFORE you file.

There's some very solid advice in all these comments, I'd be reading them all carefully and taking notes from this sub from others who have gone through it! Best to take a calculated approach, and think of everything before you do it. It's a lot easier since you don't have kids, I think that's where it usually gets messiest.

Life is too short to be stuck with someone you can't stand. I got out and will never fall into that trap ever again! I was miserable with her and now I'm happy as can be doing this on my own! Imagine going fishing or out with friends or just enjoying your hobby in general without someone texting you constantly nagging you to spend less time on that and come home to do what they want you to. I get up at 3 am and go fishing zero questions asked, and that in itself to me was a good enough reason to get divorced haha.

Get a security pin on your phone. And browse the internet using Incognito or private so your activities online are not save in browser history.
