The don't leave the house advice is based on two things: do you want the house and are their kids. If you don't want to keep the house, then leaving doesn't really matter, and for some of us (myself included), not being in the house is best for our mental and emotional fitness. In my case, we had to sell the house (I didn't want it and she couldn't afford it) and no kids.

But moving out allowed me to be in a peaceful and stress free environment. If I had stayed in the house, it would have been hell, and she likely would have filed a DVPO to get me out anyway.

Aside, when I moved out, I left all of the home chores and upkeep to her. So, a ton of responsibility was also taken off my plate. It was the right choice for me and my circumstances.

As always learn and understand your options, then make the best choice for your circumstances.

She can't make you move out my buddies wife tried this he called the cops and they told him you can kick the door down if you need to it's your home he did exactly that while they watched told him it's your home as much as hers
