Here’s something that will be coming up after filing. I’ve spent 7 years building up the house as a Smart Home. Every light, switch, fans, thermostat, cameras, etc can be controlled by Alexa and I have dozens of automations in place. I have run Ethernet and built out a network closet to support it, and was planning to expand more. So every IoT account is in my name. Amazon (Echos and FireTV), Ring, Nest, Kasa, SmartThings, Hue, and SmartLife. Hell, even the garage door opener. I have 3 options:

  1. Transfer accounts to her, or delete them so she can “claim” all the devices. Reset every device so she can set them up under her name. She will then be responsible for learning how it works and maintaining it.
  2. Leave the accounts in my name and continue to manage everything, continue being the tech guy. And yes, privacy concerns exist.
  3. Take every single non-wall mounted smart device, controller, camera, network switch and what not with me, effectively removing the convenience and security shes grown used to.

Edit: there is also a Firewall, Mesh Router, and NAS in this scenario. The NAS was used to backup every photo, video, and document, and worked with firewall and router to control access for every device used-smart home, tablets, TVs, laptops-as well as monitor/police the kids online activity and usage.
