Trip ideas?

I did a solo trip to Iceland when my stuff just started, was great, for part of my trip i didn’t even have a plan or place to stay just drove until i found somewhere to stay that night, ended up on an amazing island off the southern coast of Iceland. Yes seems like a crazy and risky idea, but it turned out fine, was no issue finding a place to sleep/ear, and was something i’ll remember for the rest of my life. Miami is a Target rich environment that can take your mind off of just about anything. Puerto Rico is also easy to get to from NYC

Plenty of options. I’d say “go where you’ve always wanted to go but haven’t considered or fulfilled because of previous life constraints”.

The reason I say this is because the first trip I took as a divorcee was on a cruise…a cruise I’ve always wanted to do but kind of dismissed the idea as my ex was repulsed by them. It felt good on two levels: (1) because I did something I truly wanted to do, and (2) gave it meaning because it was a wholesome to reminder that it’s me I should always focus on and than things would be improving from the divorce.

Have you considered a cruise? They have options that leave from NY and NJ for 4-7 days (recommend 7 about the same cost). You get a room, gym, food and they to see some different areas.

Looks like most of the 7 nights from NY are 3 days at sea and 3 stops. Inside rooms from $400-550. A bit more for a window room or balcony ( I would recommend a balcony if you can afford the extra).

Check out vacations2go.com and enter departure location, 7 nights, return to same port. Then look at 'their price'. That price is for the most basic room but that's all you need.

I personally really like cruising, but it's not for everyone. Would need your passport, as nearly every cruise stops in the Bahamas. The deal with cruises is that they actually lose money if you buy a basic room and just do all the free stuff. But the buffet and main dinner dining are included. They want to sell you all kinds of extra stuff and excursions when in Port. But you can choose to save money and just do your own thing in port: rent a scooter and tour around, go to the beach, wander, take a taxi tour, etc. Or a cheap excursion is to snorkel.

Cruises from NY spend have the time at sea. Cruises from FL hit more locations, but then you have to get to FL.

Montreal is a great roadtrip. Everything is in French and is really like a different world. Major city and lots to do.

if you are close to Stewart airport check out play airlines the fly to Europe pretty cheap out of Stewart. The swings of not driving to nyc or Newark and paying parking etc make it really worth while.

Check out kayak they have an explore option where you can get a list of flights based on cost.

I went to Las Vegas for 2.5 weeks after my wife of 27 years cheated and left me. I didn’t gamble or drink, I just walked, lost track of time and disappeared in the crowds. It was helpful. However, my recommendation would be South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. It’s beautiful, and will give you time and space to reflect. Peace be with you, brother.

Hey, I've been wanting to see NYC my entire life. I'm in Louisville KY. There are great places to go hiking and see nature around here. I'm right in the heart of bourbon country and you can do all kinds of distillery tours around here. We're also known for all the horses around here. If you're interested, we could do a house swap for a little while. You can even have my car while you're here.

I'm in Gatlinburg TN currently and just put an offer on a. Vacation rental house. It's a really cool area and the mountains are incredible. Today I hiked up to the top of a mountain. 4 hours total and kicked my ass, but the view was worth it.

I'd recommend a cruise but that's more of a week thing. I did this after my divorce (alone) and had an amazing time. Consider it!

Go to Maine or New Hampshire and get some beautiful nature in. It has always helped to recenter me when I’m having a tough time.
