Never, ever settle for a scroteous LVM thinking he’ll stay loyal because you’re a literal goddess.

Also: small enough to fit in her stocking? - I’m sorry, but I’m sure that for example jewellery your gf likes will do a better job 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]LonchuraStriataFDS Newbie 68 points69 points70 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are so many better "stocking sized" presents: jewellery, perfume or other small cosmetics (fancy skincare, soaps, bath oils...), vouchers or tickets for an event, trip or something like a spa...

But no. Let's choose an overpriced coin I ironically paid for with lots of coins that would have served the exact same purpose and that represents a common and annoying relationship problem. Best gift ever.

Even nice little things like journaling supplies- pens, markers, books, letter pads, a little stamp or wax seal; or handmade and assorted things would be good stocking stuffers.

The thing is, if you're in a relationship, you're supposed to know what your partner likes and what their hobbies are. The generic, gift-guide, "hottest gifts this season" kind of gifts give me lazy and incompetent partner vibe.

This is the most useless thing I've seen on the planet.

Past exes always gaslit me when I told them it was really stressful for me to be expected to take over all the decisions and planning (Where do you want to go tonight? What do you want to eat? What should we do for date night? Which movie should we watch? Shall we leave at 7 or 8 for the party? What should I buy when I go grocery shopping? What do you want for your birthday/christmas/whatever (and please send me the exact thing with a link where I can buy it!)?....) and tried to explain emotional labor. The best times were when they left the decision to me and then pouted over what I decided.

They are just trying to be nice and do what I want! They are paying after all, so what do I have to complain about! Aren't you a feminist who tells everyone males shouldn't make all the decisions? It was exhausting. If one of them had presented me with a 50/50 coin I think I would have shoved it where the sun doesn't shine.

The whole concept of date night was for the man to show his interest in the woman, his love for the woman, take her out, make her feel special, pay for everything, plan the night. It's supposed to be pay back for all the things she does for him all the time every day (small though it is in comparison). These pricks made it into more work for the woman.

I feel you SO hard. I’ve realised that I adore decisive, spontaneous men and I hate indecisive guys. That’s such a turn-off. Especially the ‘should we leave at 7 or 8’ or ‘what should I buy for groceries?’ Like damn, I feel like your mother and you’re older than me.

[–]LonchuraStriataFDS Newbie 72 points73 points74 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This. Sometimes it's as easy as phrasing it differently and they still don't get it.

"I want to pick up Chinese food on the way home. What do you want?" instead of "What do you want to eat tonight?". If I'm not in the mood for Chinese, I'll tell you.

"I have X, Y and Z on the shopping list. Can I bring you anything else?"

"Shall we watch movie A or movie B?"

"If we leave for the party at 8, we will be on time. Or do you want to leave earlier just in case?"

[–]HhjjuuyFDS Apprentice 53 points54 points55 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's fundamentally a fear of rejection. They are so deeply insecure they can't even stand hearing a "no" about Chinese food.

[–]The_Cat_EmpressFDS Newbie 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s weird because usually most people are nice about it. “I’m not in the mood cause we had it last week, can we get X?”

[–]sculderandmullieFDS Newbie[S] 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes!! It sounds so much more mature and it takes a lot less effort to come to a decision together. In stead of the earlier examples, where the guy only initiates asking the questions, not trying to look for options and work with you. Stating a question =/= working on solving it.

Your entire first paragraph is spot on. My ex even took it to a new level and would occasionally deign an opinion and expect me to drop all the planning and forethought I had put into it and just go with his opinion. When I refused and laid out my argument, he'd just throw his hands in the air and say "you never go with what I want, it's always an argument." Like sir this is the first time you've made a dinner suggestion in two months. Now I know it was just a shit test.

[–]xfelugirlxFDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel you, they like to left all the charge to you. Literally a lvm told me how i stay at home relaxing and he pouted because i didn’t come out with something every time we saw each other. Tf he has a brain too, he is interested, he needs to keep u entertained no the other way. I remember how i even made reservations a lot of times, they are so boring and can’t make a decision but their own like children and decide to blame others

[–]23eggzFDS Newbie 31 points32 points33 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My ex would get sooooo mad at me when I was indecisive about what restaurant I wanted to eat at after being tired from studying in the library all day. And he never paid for me once. I also planned most to all of our dates because he was new to the city. Smh never again.

[–]Lost_Kale90FDS Apprentice 66 points67 points68 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If a boyfriend got this for me I would throw it at him

[–]sculderandmullieFDS Newbie[S] 39 points40 points41 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Lol, yes. I’d bury it in the ground. ‘Here lies the future of our one-sided relationship’

[–]The_Cat_EmpressFDS Newbie 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That’s so funny because we are talking about a coin. Definitely one sided if you scratch his name out!!

[–]ShieldMaidenLagerthaFDS Disciple 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’d put it under his tongue for Charon.

[–]leadmemoriesFDS Newbie 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry babe, the coin flipped to my name and since that means I get to call the shots, it looks like you get to move out tonight 😊

[–]BBQCoolRanchQueenFDS Apprentice 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eli would probably venmo request her the $5 for half the cost of the gift, more for shipping and handling.

What an embarrassing piece of plywood 🤢

[–]radical__daphneRuthless Strategist 61 points62 points63 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I guarantee men are going to use this for sex (rape). "But the coin says you have to fuck me, Jen."

[–]sculderandmullieFDS Newbie[S] 47 points48 points49 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, probably. ‘But, It was MY turn to pick date night, and I suggest we watch porn together and order cheap take-out! 🥺’

[–]The_Cat_EmpressFDS Newbie 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A shudder of revulsion swept through me reading this. EW.

Pick-me gf level 1: accepting the worst gift ever from your LVM. Pick-me gf level 2: getting the worst date night proposal ever. I mean, it usually gets worse the more you put up with 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]Platipus6FDS Disciple 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I had been considerate to my ex for the first 6 months and every weekend was catered to him. I told him he was exhausted and he was in charge next weekend. He picked a date that catered to him. 🤡 I took myself to my favourite cafe and thought.. if I have to take myself on dates, what do I need him for?

[–]LonchuraStriataFDS Newbie 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I bet one of the first uses will be "You can't say no to anal tonight, honey. The coin said I get to call the shots and make the decisions. You can only say no when the coin says it's your turn. If you say no to anal right now, I have the right to say no to whatever decision you make when it's your turn."

Disgusting.

[–]BooksandEarlGreyTeaFDS Newbie 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Oh honey, I thought you would never ask. Let me get my strap-on so you can finally have anal" /S

[–]Sage_PlanterFDS Disciple 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"The coin said yes to anal. It's the rule." Barf.

[–]ferociouslycuriousFDS Newbie 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My ex was really lazy about dates and I put up with it. He ended up caring as much (which is to say not at all) about the marriage. Lesson learned.

[–]_laufaesonFDS Newbie 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lmao I use a TTRPG die when I can’t decide what I want to eat, so I can understand the reason this exists. But still, plan the damn dates already.

[–]matte_personalityFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m literally working an entry level job in a third world country and I still managed to scrape enough money to get my best friend some nice Aesop products for her birthday. I don’t understand why men want to be stingy with the women they supposedly love? Like how does it make sense at all when you’re supposed to love someone and you can’t even try your best to be thoughtful?
