He was a counselor for abusive men and writes very thoroughly about what he has learned about the mindset of an abusive man; more importantly, he writes about the warning signs, psychological abuse that many women don't even recognize as abuse because it's so underhanded, the role of pornography in abusive relationships, and why women wrongly blame themselves for abuse. I am halfway through it and highly recommend. I see some of the traps of manipulation I have fallen for in the past, and hopefully I will have better insight now in the future. I am listening to it in Audiobook version on the Scribd app and definitely recommend the audiobook as the narrator is very good. I actually had to turn it off a few times to process and reorient myself, so I guess I should include a trigger warning for women who aren't ready to process something like this.
