My English professor back in college was very particular about this. She furiously demanded we wrote clearly, concisely and ASSERTIVELY.

I'm also guilty of using too many !!!! And 😁😁😁 and lol's to convey a light hearted tone. I am admittedly an expressive person who gets VERY EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING, but I could tone it down some.

I've been working on this and it's a tough habit to break! The same with apologizing for everything (including inconveniences that aren't even your fault) and trying to overexplain everything. It's so hard when it just slips out, but it's worth being mindful of. I hate apologizing for existing and I won't do it anymore.

I need to get better at this. I do it more than I'd like to admit and it makes me sound unsure of myself when in reality it's in my natural instinct to not offend someone. Ive done this when explaining to a guy that I'm not interested in going on more dates w him, I'll usually say something like "I don't THINK I really see this going in a romantic direction". I don't think, I KNOW, I'm just too wimpy to be assertive :/

I've been working on it so hard.

I talk with confidence and don't use this modifiers anymore and I'm seeing good improvement in stopping with the "smile all the time" thing.

I had a lot of intern conflict about smiling all the time because I don't feel like smiling when someone makes a stupid joke, specially a scrote joke, but I automatically smiled politely and at the end of the day I felt awful at myself. Apparently I'm programed to be nice and pleasant to be around instead of showing my own opinion. I'm full of it and have been slowly changing my behaviour.

I'm proud of myself now. I know there's a lot to improve but I'm doing great!
