Blood?? Uh wow... I mean I know it’s from the meat but still... eeehhhhh /puke
[–]WhoopassDietFDS Newbie27 points28 points29 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Probably the myoglobin that comes from burst muscle cells. Lots of people confuse it for blood.
And someone who doesn't know what a baking tray is, probably also doesn't know that meat you buy doesn't contain any blood.

“It’s not worth it”
Pretty sure this is a fire hazard. At the very least, if the apartment is a rental no one is going to be happy with the rank old meat smoke smelling cabinets and carpet.
How did he go his whole life not seeing anyone else’s kitchen or someone use the oven? I just... 😧😤
[–]iaintgonnacallyouFDS Newbie32 points33 points34 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My oven caught on fire from this same thing, except it was from the previous tenets and apparently I didn’t clean the oven out well enough 🤦🏻♀️ It was terrifying.

This is why YouTube exists. Don't know how to use an oven properly cause mommy never showed you how? Go find out on the internet. WTF!

Apparently the colander thing is Middle Eastern thing?

For real I don’t give answers to people in my life unless I can tell they did some research on their own first. My little brother has this down now. If you can’t be bothered to google it why should I bother to tell you shit? Lmao
[–]hypointellectualFDS Newbie17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m surprised they didn’t blame his mom for not teaching him how to use the oven. Isn’t meat grilling a manly man’s job anyway? Should be innate.

The vast majority of men somehow just don't ever do this. I don't understand it at all. They just guess at something, and then assume that's the right way, then they play all dumb and ignorant. It's pathetic.

THISSS.
Story: Everyone who knows me know that I enjoy cooking and that I'm good at it. So, I had a friend years ago who told me that he'd never cooked in his life and he was just beginning to learn. Instead of asking me for advice, he lectured me, saying the secret to great pasta is to salt the water. Thanks for the tip, Chef Boyardee!!! Literally anyone who's ever watched five minutes of the Food Network knows to salt pasta water.
Then he served me a bowl of soup. Instead of asking my opinion, he presented it as a perfectly executed dish and declared that he'd mastered soup cookery. Dude! It had not one single grain of salt in it! The blandest, most worthless thing you could ever imagine.
I'm still mad about this. I should have given him all my opinions that he didn't ask for. But at the time I didn't want to oFfEnD hIm.

Honestly I never believe men anymore when they say they are good at something
[–]seraphinelysionFDS Apprentice2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You remember when men would drive and never pull over for directions cause they insist that they know exactly where they are going even though it's clear as day that they have no clue?
Yeah, it's the same thing.
[–]Works_For_Treats2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They still do this. It never went away. It just got obscured by smart phones.

This is why you don’t coddle your sons so we don’t have dummies like this walking around

My NVM ex coddled his kids (girl and boy). These are the kind of young adults they're going to grow up to be.

Do these people not know google exists? How are they so confident? I checked 3 YouTube videos while making dal the first few times, and I've eaten dal every day of my life....

go dal!

You can't look for the answer if you don't realise you're asking the wrong question. Looking for "How often do you clean an oven" won't tell you to use a baking tray or dish.

The confidence is the result of society being built and catered to his gender.

I remember talking to my brother on the phone his first year in college and we both were cooking. I asked him what he was making and he was stir-frying cauliflower and some other stuff.
At one point he was like, ‘Man this takes long. Is that normal?’ Turned out that he bought a pre cut packaged cauliflower and just dropped it in to the wok without blanching it. I was laughing so hard it hurt.
I give him a break in times like these though, because we grew up in a very conservative and authoritarian household where my little brother was actually forbidden by my mom and dad to do things like cooking because they thought he couldn’t do it. He is the kind of guy who actually learns by googling a lot and sometimes by trial and error. He likes to cook for people now and invited me over for dinner in his new home this weekend ☺️ It’s a perfect example of ‘if he wanted, he would’

I asked my ex to cook some broccoli while I prepped another part of the dinner. He dropped the whole thing intact into a pot and boiled it until it was yellow.
He didn’t have any answer when I asked him how he thought that was going to pan out.

This seems a lot like bumbling. Pretending to not know how to do something, so they don’t get asked for it in the future.
[–]LurkForYourLivesFDS Newbie16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely. I see it now but not at the time. I should have run.
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, to be fair he actually grills and cleans the entire oven every damn time! He's ignorant but not a pig at least
[–]HhjjuuyFDS Apprentice29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Bit rich for the man who never cleans his oven to be publicly shaming anyone.
[–]mshourglasssFDS Disciple22 points23 points24 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
To be fair most ovens don’t get gross unless you have juices dripping out of the pan/foil your cooking food in. Mine stays clean as a whistle and I only use the self-cleaner on it once a month just for general up keep but I can definitely go longer if I wanted
[–]WhoopassDietFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I clean mine like every other year. But I clean the trays/grills much more frequently.
[–]pao664FDS Newbie9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Waiting for the TRP/MGTOW crowd to chant about how they all cook better than women. And yet they don’t even know how to properly use and clean an oven. 🤣
[–]jayohday5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I love this bc so basic 🤣🤣🤣 aaaaahahahaha
[–]foxfaebaeFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Haha honestly this is relatable. I call my mom or dad for the most random "how do I do this" questions. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
[–]C_HaggyPickmeisha™️2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
OMG stop calling the wire racks in the oven 'grills'. It's not a grill!
[–]PinkestMangoFDS Apprentice2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Does Mr. Caveman also light a fire directly under?
The realest shit though why do ovens get so gross so fast
[–]laserkatzeFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
damn for me it’s always so sad when someone doesn’t want to talk to their parents for an hour. enjoy it while it lasts, man.
