They’re usually not intimidated, the closest thing would probably be having their ideas or lifestyle challenged or questioned by a woman. It’s more about inconvenience or irritation than intimidation

I think it's important to know when it's intimidation and emasculation. I've been with lots of men who felt emasculated by me and my achievements, but I don't know if any have been intimidated by me.

I'm afraid this guy went on a whole rant about a word that he doesn't actually know the meaning of. He seems to think that the only kind of intimidation is physical intimidation, and therefore no man is intimidated unless he is literally in fear for his life.

Back in the literate world, "intimidate" simply means "to make timid". Anything can make a person feel timid, from a roomful of listening strangers, to a new food, to the person you have a crush on, to driving someone else's car, to stairs if you're Donald Trump.

Men can absolutely be intimidated by an individual woman. I'm sure all of us here have had cases of men stuttering and stumbling all over themselves in our presence, or averting their eyes and scuttling off like cockroaches.

But what really intimidates men is groups of women. If you ever want to see a grown man piss his pants, just stare at him fixedly with two or three of your girlfriends, and don't stop till he's sweating. On some primal level, they remember the Maenads, the Bachantes, and the Amazons. They know what women are capable of when we band together.

This man is just beating his chest. "How could I, an adult man, ever be afraid of women?! I am brave, so so brave! In fact, no man has ever feared any woman ever!"

I think men hate admitting when they’re intimidated by women to the point where they turn fear and discomfort into irritation and rage as a defense.

I mean I've had a 70 year old professor tell me he thought my male college classmates were scared of me. And there have been guys that act figity around me and if I stare at them long enough they start apologizing.

I do think if you have cold mannerisms and resting bitch face (which is me), guys think you're more judgemental and it's pretty well-known that men get crushed when they fail to get female approval. God, how many movies have we already seen of how intimidating it is for a guy to ask the popular chick out?

I think men are, indeed, intimidated by the judgment of women. They’re (at a primal level) afraid of being rejected and ending their line in failure.

I think men either use that as an excuse to cover up shitty behavior, or he knows you are way out of his league, or that you won't take any of his shit so he has to walk the line.

I’ve been told by multiple men I’ve known that I’m “intimidating”. When I was younger and a hardcore Pickmeisha, I kept trying to identify what made me intimidating and make it less so. I started asking these men what about me was so intimidating, and (this is gonna sound like a humble brag, sorry) the answer was that I’m intelligent and I know it, I’m outspoken, I refuse to take any shit, and I am better at xyz than the man I’m speaking to. And that’s when I realized. They’re not intimidated by me. They’re disappointed that I’m not going to be easy prey, and they say I’m intimidating to get me to break myself down into something more “manageable”.

High standards intimidate men. Guys know when a woman will expect the best and they can't give it to her. They will literally run a mile rather than try and fall flat on their face making an attempt.

Dusty, musty, crusty men don't even make eye contact with me because they know their normal shit won't get them anywhere, and I love seeing their eyes dart away. They certainly do get intimidated.

I want to believe this is often the case but I've also been told before that I was intimidating by men, or that they were nervous around me. Though most of these cases went on to have some form of manipulation, so maybe it's just a tactic to make them look more vulnerable and hook you in?

Intimidation envokes feelings of insecurity, not fear. A lot of guys are insecure as hell, especially when they meet women who are more intelligent/ skilled than them, bc women are supposed to be the „inferior” gender. I would say though if a man openly says he is intimidated by you, he is probably trying to manipulate you. Men who are truly intimidated by someone dont openly talk about it, bc to them its like giving up power.
