That wasn't a proposal, that was him realizing he finally felt marrying her after she already had his kid. No thought, no consideration. A real man who loved her would have married her before she got pregnant and had his child because he would have decided he wanted that with her.

Seriously though, her expectations are very low. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting an engagement ring (within his budget). A romantic proposal doesn’t have to be fancy or outlandish. He can get on one knee and say “I love you, I want to be with you forever” and then embrace her and passionately kiss her. And then let her plan the wedding within their budget. I’m not against the man having input on the wedding itself, but the way she’s explaining it, his attitude seems like he DGAF at all about her, her feelings, or the wedding itself. He’s acting like it’s a chore when marrying someone should be exciting!

My proposal wasn't elaborate, we planned on a hike, but it was rain was coming, but he wanted to propose anyway, so he did the day before. It was kind of funny, and it made me happy after a long day of work. But you know what he had? A plan that wasn't a convenient epiphany and A FUCKING RING (that was properly sized and he knew I liked).

She's stuck though. She wants to make it work with this guy because he's the father of her baby. She can't change him into someone who can afford a wedding or plans a proposal. She can find another guy who will, but with this current guy it's a lost cause, she can't just raise her expectations and make the fish climb the tree.
