These men are fucking DUMB. Women their age have no interest in repetitive, crude jokes, boring-ass conversations and a man who can't sit still for a 90 minute movie because he has no attention span and a prostate problem.

Maybe 20-25 year olds find the juvenile humour similar to their peers so they don't know any better yet, and at least the dude can pretend to have money.

It's cause no woman at her 30's will settle for a 30 year old dude who has a 20 Square meter apoartment that he still doesn't clean properly, dresses and acts like he's 16 and can't boil water.

A 20ish year old is being told all her life that men her age are immature so when she meets X guy 10 years older than her, she's impressed by small things (like wow! He has his own appartment and car! He finished school with a scholarship! He has traveled everywhere!)

In conclusion: Men: Evil waman my age hate gooD guYs like Me! Women: Guys my age are so immature, he's so mature and has his own appartment!

Like many other FDS women I’ve run into here, I look half my age. Those same men who claim to only attract younger women are the same men who are surprised I’m almost 40. They are always immature and irresponsible and not looking to grow up, too.

This is slightly longer post but I think there is another psychological component here in that men are absolutely terrified of getting older, and facing the inevitable truth of their mortality.

Most men don't take care of themselves in the same way that women do so they usually end up looking older and 'hitting the wall' (hate that phrase) in their 30s. I think when you get older and start suffering from the health effects of having abused your younger years with too much alcohol, a poor diet, a poor exercise and skincare regime, and poor overall life decisions, it results in an existential crisis as your health, youth and vitality inevitably declines. I think men then have to find comfort in the idea of reframing their older years as ones where they are now 'silver foxes', or years where they can imagine themselves to be the attractive, wealthy older 'sugardaddy' type of man that apparently younger women find attractive. I think that's why they desperately seek out younger women who:

a) give them status and an ego boost but,

b) who, in their minds, also are 'proof' that they've still got it, that they're not old yet and that they don't have to fear that the summer of their youth is over, that they don't have to face genuine adulthood and the fear of death beyond that. Most men don't have a youth where they get loads of women anyway, so I can imagine how traumatic it must be to be past your peak attractiveness in life, yet still be feeling unfulfilled and lonely and facing years and years of decline ahead of you. Especially if they've ended up settling with a pick me forever gf who was never their dream girl to begin with, who doesn't represent a life and a lovelife fulfilled to its truest potential in their male pysche.

I think this is why men totally freak out when their spouses have life threatening illnesses too. They can't deal with how real it is, they can't deal with the concept of death, that they're suddenly middle aged. How many husbands have abandoned their sick wives in favour of a younger woman? A woman who represents their fantasies? A younger woman who represents escapism from death?

I think women tend to deal better with the realities of life because we literally have a closer relationship to death. We deal with the threat of it every day from childbirth to the threat of male violence (at home or on the streets), to seeing the realities of the failing bodies of our loved ones when we fulfil caretaking responsibilities. We deal with the concept of death everyday and I think we learn to accept it at a younger age and in a way that makes us more mentally resilient to it.

I think men getting older and feeling more insecure corresponds to an age where women get older and feel more confident and less likely to put up with crap. How many women have you heard say, "I've been absolutely loving my 30s! I'm so much more confident in myself." That's why most women will want to date age appropriate partners who they can have a mature relationship with, whereas most men will want to date someone younger, someone who can reassure them of their insecurities.

I just dumped someone only a few years older than myself. The older I get the less attracted I am to older men. I still look the same or better but most of them don't. Anyone relate?

I think society conditions us to think it's normal or not a big deal. I cringe now at the thought of the age gap I used to find normal.

Why do men date younger women?

Younger women are less experienced making them easier to manipulate or mistreat.

Younger women can be forever girlfriends longer. Great for men who don't want to commit to anything.

Younger women are considered a status symbol (woman as objects or posessions).

So basically predators who see women as objects.

Sidenote: Men do want women who are fertile, that is on the biological level of attraction. BUT by that logic they wouldn't need to date someone that much younger. A woman at 28 is just as fertile as that 20 year old they choose to date.

As a 20yr old that gets approached by crusty scrotes well into their 30s, some have admitted it's because it's much easier to impress younger women. They assume because I am in college, I am probably super low maintenance and just happy with a man that has a full-time job.

My dad is a macho hispanic dude, who is big on being the provider and his house being HIS house, and stuff like that.

I think once as a teen I asked my dad how old his wife was (she was in her 30s, he in his 40s? I imagine it is a big gap, almost 10 years if not 10 years). He told me that it was normal for men to be older in relationships. I remember not liking it then, but just decided to ignore it and move on doing whatever I did at that age.

Recently, we were chatting and he talked about getting older, and how he would need somebody to take care of him. And I recoiled. I'm not sure if I responded, but I thought, is that what he would want for me? To date some old fucking man so that I take care of him in my older years? He didn't even have to say it, he clearly wasn't thinking that maybe his wife would need someone to take care of her. Although their relationship is so wishy washy and inconsistent. When we do have arguments half of the time he will mention that he does not need anyone including me or his wife, this is his house, whatever.

My mother has also told me my dad was abusive to her. And even though I don't remember it, and I honestly was torn about believing her for years because my dad constantly said that she was dramatic/didn't want a family/liar/wants to take and schmooze off people, I tell myself I have to believe her. Guess what? She was 17 or 18 when he started courting her, and he was in his MID-20S AT LEAST. I mean come on, he had a problem with me staying at my first boyfriend's house while I was a teenager up until college (who was my age), but can't possibly insinuate in any way that it was FUCKED UP he was courting a fresh 18 year old? He's still touting this, it's normal for men to be older trash?

I think whether they realize it or not, men like this want to feel like they have power/control, and a relationship with a younger woman, especially a woman that is in
a struggling position (poor finances, no house of their own, little support, little knowledge/experience), let's them live out that power part of being a provider that makes them feel good.

Entitlement too. For my father, his family was Jehova's witness. Women already had a short fucking stick in that generation, but religion and cult like this has very specific language and rules that make women subservient. She cared for the household while the man provided. I believe even the man was the only one allowed to even preach to his own children about the religion (what a way to ensure the patriarchal message gets passed down).

I wonder if it's because his father died when he was young, that he at least ended up more lenient on me that he could've been. I'd assume his mom had to step up and provide for them, and be more important figure in general. I'm not sure, and to be honest, I feel on edge talking to my father too long, no matter how much I love him or want to be closer, the power dynamic is always there.
