this happened to a friend of mine, she’s gorgeous with a conventionally attractive curvy but still slender body. myself, her, her boyfriend and a handful of others were at a party having a drink together and once he had a bit much, he said to her ‘you know (insert name), i wasn’t actually very attracted to you at first. i prefer shorter girls and i would also prefer if your bum was smaller’. she laughed, but like cmon, you don’t say that to your girlfriend!! especially not when she’s a 8-9/10 and you’re a 6. A guy I’ve recently ruled out has toenails so long other people commented on them on public. He also doesn’t wear socks or underwear. He also was unemployed after being fired and is incredibly lazy, nearly completely broke at 30. Got kicked out of his last house for not paying rent but blamed it on his roommate who was a “hateful b*tch.” Oh yeah, this same guy is so dirty he literally left smudge marks on my walls after leaning on them. He also left my front door open for an hour after we left To go somewhere and my cats got out. Luckily they were fine but I was so mad and then he tried to pass it off as not a big deal.

I learned to play a competitive video game with an extremely steep learning curve just so that I could spend time with him because that was the only way he’d interact with me. As repayment he would scream at me until I had panic/asthma attacks, that I was “fucking retarded and should literally fucking kill myself for being so shit at the game” 😢

Married a LVM that I had been dating on and off from age 13-24. We lasted 3 years married. Prime red flags on his LVM behavior:

Horrible gifts. Once got markers and a carton of strawberry ice cream. I was 18. WTF I’m not 6.

Anytime I had a problem he was absent or made it all about himself.

He always had another girl lined up 1 second after we broke up. One girl actually reaches out to me to say sorry I stole your boyfriend. I can’t believe what clowns we both were.

Totally codependent. I had to teach him everything. Like how to write a check. He could not do anything without me or his mom.

When we had kids nothing I did was ever good enough. He would complain about how I played with them, cooked dinner. Nothing was ever right

He kept track of everything I did like it was some kind of contest. If I asked to see my friends for brunch, he’d allow it if he could go on a trip with his friends to Vegas.

We had no money because he was always spending it on new cars, motorcycles, junk.

I had absolutely no emotional support. I started getting migraines and anxiety and depression. I had a panic attack while driving home and called him for help. He just said “I’m at work I can’t deal with this” and hung up on me.

He literally took everything emotionally. I remember going to bed crying and waking up crying one day and I knew this was not who I am. I told him to take some time to think about what makes him happy and if he wants to be a family which would involve some big changes for both of us. He was serving me with divorce papers a week later and had a new GF in less than 2 weeks.

It took so much out of me to leave but I woke up and realized I don’t deserve this shit. My kids don’t deserve this shit.

5 years later and he remarried to that gf. He actually got engaged while we were still legally married LOL.

I found a HVM who treats me right through online dating. We took our time. We both have therapists and emotional support is something we talk about regularly. We fight sometimes but we talk. We listen. He is financially stable. He reads and has goals, actively working towards his professional and personal goals. We both want to be better people and help each other with our goals and dreams. We have boundaries. We respect privacy.

It’s not perfect now and I’m not going to pretend it is but I have no fears about being alone. I know my worth and what I bring to a relationship. If you can’t bring emotional stability, financial stability, and the desire to be your best self- boy bye. I already have 2 kids I don’t need a third son.

He agreed to do stuff I wanted to do and then sighed and whined the whole time until I agreed to leave.

He rarely wanted to come to my place because it was "boring" but wanted me to come to him every weekend. Which I had to pay the train for while his mother would always drive him to me.

He wanted to go to an event with me, where he didn't tell me I had to pay beforehand, then wanted the money back from me an during the whole event, I just sat on a couch alone while he talked with his friends.

When I came out, he was standing outside already, so I figured he already payed. I went outside, we took off, until the waitress came running after me saying that I didn't pay my 2 drinks (for about $5) yet. This a-hole only payed for himself and said: "I thought you went to the bar to pay for your drinks when you returned from the restroom...'. Stupidly, I ignored the incident and dated him for half a year until I broke up with him.

Ex spent every Sunday from 1-8pm watching sPoRtZ. Wouldn’t even go on a walk with me and HIS dog between 12:30-1:30 because he would miss sPoRtZ time.

Sometimes when he would kiss me he would say “yum, make up.”

Told me I didn’t season my food enough in front of his sister.

Would call me out in front of friends and family about smoking weed - even though they already know and most of them smoke as well.

Would tell me I had stoner brain even though I beat him in numerous strategy board games while stoned. He also never liked to see me win and was so competitive to the point he would yell “DO BETTER, GO FASTER.”

Would sometimes say comments about my outfits and tease me saying I looked like a realtor or a Karen.

Oh and broke up with me 4 days after tell me he loved me and was 100% committed to me and putting more effort into our rship AFTER a night out drinking with our friends.

Ex narc would tell me I was fat and I needed to go to the gym. I did and then he told me I wasn’t going enough. I felt the need to prove myself and showed him the app that I check into the gym. Still wasn’t good enough.

Recent ex: he said name all the scents I like; for a candle ofcourse. And I named maybe 5-10 notes to make sure he had it. He did legit with the other stuff, but gave me a batch of some off brand mini candles and I’m like bruh, you could have just gotten me a big Whitebarn candle and I’d be set

My make out buddy: yes, I used to have one in my single pickme days- it was for after flu shots to build my immunity (it works) well he told me to send a picture of myself in a bra and had the audacity to say he was going to get money from a bet if I did it- I sarcastically said, what you weren’t going to give me part of it? One guy kept wanting to go as walks as a date. Then one day he offered to bring dinner over to my place and asked me to send him money for it in the same sentence.

One guy, super cute nerdy guy who seemingly had his life together. We went out and had a great convo. Halfway through the date he asked me if I wanted to go home with him, said he got the “vibe” that I did.

One guy was a mess. Again, it seemed like he had his life together but I’m 99% sure he was a mgtow and had a God complex. He was dating multiple (5+) women and was rude. I left him on read and he couldn’t handle it and got angry.

-a boyfriend complained that I was bad in bed/bossy when I tried to tell him how to make me feel good (his attitude was 'you should like what I do')

-a FWB made me walk home from his house for 30+ minutes because he "didn't feel like" driving me home

-I made lunch for live-in boyfriend every day. He never ate it and bought fast food instead

-a boyfriend didn't speak to me for 3 days because I left a wet towel on the bed

Refused to leave the house because he had a spot on his face and “everyone will be looking”, yeah because you’re that much of a big deal. So I had to do all the shopping, which I conveniently paid for as well. This guy also refused to wear shorts in hot weather but would moan about how hot he was constantly.

Violent outbursts caused by video games.

Expecting me to drive 30 minutes to pick him up and bring him back to my house so we could spend time together (lived with his mother)

Agreed to go 50/50 on a new tv with a guy I lived with. He sold MY old tv to his parents, and the profits went towards his half of the cost.

Backing out last minute (on several occasions) on trips to visit my family.

I noticed him getting distant and I asked, in all my pickme glory:"Don't you find me attractive?" He replied: "Well, y'know. When you get dressed up." I am a conventionally very attractive woman, and I took pride in not letting myself go in a long term relationship. He, on the other hand, lost 10 kg of pure muscle in our relationship, and ended up looking as a skeleton.

This took such a hit on my ego, until I found this subreddit! You saved me ❤️ Never again!

Another example: his idea of spending time together was looking through his Steam library, commenting on which games he wants to play, while I just sat there lmao.

Anytime I tried to point out shitty behavior from my LVM narc ex:

“I’m sorry you feel that way.”

And when I finally broke it off:

“I’ve dealt with sensitive types like you.”

Never once heard an actual apology from this man child. Thank goodness for FDS. Boy bye!
