For real. These guys out there fancying themselves to be manly alpha renaissance men, but can't even change a tire or operate a fucking dishwasher. Talking about how they need a woman to protect. They can't even care for themselves, how are they gonna care for a woman?

All my furniture is IKEA and I’m proud to have built all of it entirely by myself! Including my super heavy complicated bed frame.

It just dawned on me maybe that’s why most of them don’t even have a bed frame…

I refuse to build IKEA furniture with men anymore. It's always a nightmare because they don't follow the instructions then have to do everything over. One ex actually got mad at me for pointing out that it didn't look right when he was rushing to put together something he should have done weeks before!

The last time I had to build IKEA furniture, I invited two girlfriends over for pizza and beer. We had a great afternoon.

Honestly I’m not impressed by a man being able to build something either.

If a woman can do it ….then it’s hardly impressive a man can.

If that’s their only use- then I’d rather not

One of my most abusive ex’s who always had ‘something to prove’ would leap to do things like that for me yet he was also destroying my mental health with cheating and gaslighting

It was about his ego and being seen as important and stronger than me as he was desperately insecure- so would leap at any chance to prove this.

I’d let him fix stuff for me but didn’t stop him being an abusive asshole either.

So if I’m expected to to take constant abuse just to have some dumbo around to help put up something I can do by MYSELF- no thanks.

These days everything comes with instructions and at most you need a common power tool you can buy on Amazon. Or a multi tool flick knife.

I’ve had no trouble putting up simple furniture by myself or fixing things with super glue and screws. I get it done within the hour. It was no struggle at all.

I can do all that MYSELF without the added bullshit

If I need a removal van or an expert- which I never do- I can soon call one.

Also we don’t want to cook or go the mile for a man who does some nice things but is mostly a compulsive liar and cheat.

The few calculated nice deeds don’t outweigh the constant shit they bring into your life.

Yeah, my grandfather literally built my grandmother a house when he was 25, and after he passed she sold it for 5x what he paid initially. Yes she did all the childcare and cooking, but only because he was almost literally working all of the time, and when he wasn’t at work he was fixing or building something. Plus he knew damn well how to cook and clean when she wasn’t up to it. Theirs was a true partnership, and I won’t settle for less. A HVM will not let you labor while he puts his feet up.

I love cooking, and I’ve been told many times that I should get into catering, but I don’t tell men about my cooking anymore. Without fail, I’ll be talking to a guy and I’ll be telling him about all my interests “painting, piano, learning another language, my solo backpacking camping trips,” and he’ll have a glazed look over his face, but the second I mention I love to cook, he gets all excited and starts asking me a million questions about what I cook. Then he starts making jokes about when I’ll cook for him, and that going out to eat is pointless when I’m so much more talented than any other chef 🤦‍♀️ Men are so transparent. They only give a shit about your passions when it directly benefits them, and now I’m kicking myself for watching all that fake wrestling with my juvenile ex.

I moved recently and bought an Ikea dresser even though I hate Ikea. Bought some beers and had 3 guy friends come over to build it. Wood was splitting. It was a mess. They wouldn’t even read the directions. I kicked them all out, drank the beer, and had it built by myself within 2 hours.
