I get your point, women always neglect themselves, they need to do whatever makes them feel good about themselves. I get you want women to stop putting themselves on the back burner.

However on the flip side this can read like:

HEY married women! Did you know that if you get even a tad run down or allow yourself to age (gasp!) you’re low value man will split! Be afraid!!! Best to be a pick me!!! Worry about how men can up and leave at any time!!! It’s YOUR fault!!!

Fear is the worst of motivators. It’s shitty. There is no contentment in achievement when fear is the motivator. You can walk on the moon, but if you’re doing it for fear of losing any mans attention, achievement of that goal will be hollow.

Looks might matter, but the driving source of your effort should NEVER be to please or keep a man. LVM are going to low value!

I say this because I did exactly that. Many times. I am ashamed but I feel like I have to share. Nothing I did was ever good enough.

I mean, I guess I can get behind this message if it is being said in general - I agree that generally, women (and men) should take care of themselves and strive to be the best version of themselves possible. But, this advice is being given as RELATIONSHIP advice. Like, “Don’t let yourself go because if he leaves you, how will you be worthwhile to the next man?!” And nah, sis. We don’t give a crap.

Best advice? De-center men’s opinions. Do it for you, not so you can attract a new man if the current man doesn’t work.

Damn I wish women could just exist in the same way men do every single day. Like who gives a shit about relationships and marriage in this context in relation to taking care of your appearance? If it's for women taking care of themselves FOR themselves why mention relationships and marriage at all? 🤔 And I hate this notion of women "letting themselves go" if they don't constantly put 24/7 effort into their appearance. I'm sure someone else can more eloquently explain the problem with this post but it really rubs me the wrong way.

You should keep your appearance up because you love yourself, not because your relationship may not succeed and you may need to lure another person in. Women of all sizes and different types of beauty all get suitors. Dick is abundant and low in value.

This perpetuates the myth that women "let themselves go" physically just because they are married and that they need to keep up their appearance so that they can hop into another relationship if this one fails.

No thanks. I'll continue to keep up my appearance because it's easy right now and I feel like it, not because my world revolves around men and whether or not I have one in my life.

Ladies, looks DO matter. There, I said it. Do it for you. Look the most beautiful for yourself. Not only will your confidence sky rocket, so will your self worth. Never get comfortable in any circumstance. Do not neglect yourself. Eat the best food and have weekly beauty treatments done. Whether it be a pre-made salad or a dollar store face mask. Please, start somewhere and do this for yourself. 💕

Edit: I would like to add that this post is specifically talking about appearance/self care. Because some ladies like to take things and misconstrue them. YES, overall health is important. But we are discussing primarily self care and outward appearance right now.
