When you used to do that, did your attraction to him end? I’ve been there, and usually whenever I put in more effort than the guy I was with in anything, I quickly stopped seeing them as a capable adult man and any desire I had for him started to vanish.

Yes, it made them unattractive to me.
I remember multiple exes of mine reminded me of children, which diminished my sexual attraction towards them right away.

Well by pointing out she didn't have her nails done and saying "put yourself first" it kind of implies that women who don't have their nails done don't put themselves first. Which isn't true really. I tried having my nails done once and I didn't find it comfortable so I just don't do it anymore. I can still take care of myself while ignoring certain beauty rituals.
