I am kind of torn, because I love quality homemade or handcrafted things. If my partner had acquired those skills/tools just to make a ring for me, I would honestly think a lot of love went into that. I am not talking about some shitty ring, but this one if actually very pretty. However, it should not be made out of bottle, Many stones can be purchased and made like that. I think making a ring for your future wife is very high value, but not out of a beer bottle though.

I wouldn’t mind as long as he wasn’t proposing to me with that. I like to make cute handmade embroidery things for my loved ones.

However, there was absolutely no need to turn a craft project into a man/ woman/ “gold digger”/ love issue and starting a “debate” on twitter in an attempt to shame women into lowering their standards. This person made a ring out of recyclable material- Ok very cool!

But I do love the idea of a ring using an heirloom stone that was made just for me by my partner. A bought ring is one of many, but something handcrafted with love is special and precious. Just...use an actual stone and decent materials for goodness' sake lol.

On the flip side, I told my ex that I’m a fan of colored jewels like ruby, emerald, sapphire, amethyst etc, and I would prefer an engagement ring with one of those to a diamond. He seemed taken aback for a moment and then said, “yeah sure, but you’re still getting a diamond because I don’t want anyone thinking I’m cheap” 😒

In the final shot of the ring you could see the glass 'diamond' was pretty cloudy and full of impurities. While I think the whole process of making something is pretty cool (I love creative stuff), I hate the discussion that sprung up around it of 'this is one way to convince your fiancée that you bought her an emerald!' which...is just lying.
