I’m having problems figuring out what he’s trying to say.

It sounds a lot like:

“Don’t fight back when he abuses you.”

A man thinks all the “good” is gone in a women if he can get her to sink to his level like if you throw something back at him when he throws something at you.

Or

“Men are naturally violent and you can’t expect all men to stop being violent against women so the onus is on the woman to leave a relationship when he gets violent.”

Or

“Walk away at the first sign of disrespect from a man, if you stay you’ll become an empty shell of yourself.”

Or

“Abused women are irreparably damaged women who aren’t wifeable.”

Maybe it says all of that.

Hate the use of the word 'girl instead of 'woman'. So patronising. I come to this space to escape male opinions, whether they're well intentioned or not. I'm a bit tired of the all male created content here recently 😞

Edited to add: also sounds like he's victim blaming and putting responsibility on the woman to leave rather than on the man to stop being abusive.

I relate to a man "dulling your sparkle." I am outgoing, friendly, and I love to laugh. Not a single friend or acquaintance sees me as shy or sad. By the end of my relationship with my narc ex, I barely would say anything around him, he would dominate conversations and make me so, so sad that he would call me Eyore. This was and is not me. I crawled into a shell when I was with him and I was afraid to come out.
